This little book is ideal for anyone who loves poetry and enjoys sharing it with children. It features well-known poems by famous poets, and they are all selected for their suitability for children in the elementary grades. Some, like "My Shadow," "The Owl and the Pussycat," and "Mary's Lamb," are perfect for the youngest children, while others, such as "Paul Revere's Ride," "Barbara Frietchie," and "The Landing of the Pilgrims," are better for the middle grades. As a retired teacher who loved teaching poetry to my classes, I think this editor has made excellent choices of 31 poems for children to know and enjoy. Every parent and teacher would do well to own this book.
