Stearns SoSpenders World Class Series Sailing Automatic Vest (Navy, Universal)

I bought two of these, one for me and one fror my wife. They were both the same, adult universal. Well in that universe there must only be small people. They fit my wife OK, but were way too small for me, I am 6 4 and 250. Way too small for me.

This is my second SOSpenders auto-inflate PFD with harness. The changes are mostly cosmetic. It is comfortable to wear and work in over anything from a t-shirt to full foulies. I particularly like the double D-rings for attachment to jacklines since that design does not depend on the integrity of the plastic buckle to keep me on the boat. Recommended.

Great . . . . however, did not fit my xtra large husband, so had to return. Not a 'one size fits all' . . . .

This is a great inflatable PFD with an integrated safety harness. The weight is a non issue for me when it is adjusted properly you cannot even feel that it is on not to mention that it keeps you much cooler without the added bulk of the regular PFDs. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the double D-ring set-up does not rely on the integrity of the plastic buckle to work.Also it comes with the manual-only conversion which involves unscrewing the auto inflation cap(which contains the dissolving pill), and screwing the manual only cap(stowed on the right hand side of the PFD.) The only thing that I would add to the design is a lash tab as I like to keep a knife on my PFDs but I just purchased an inexpensive dive knife and attaching it to the lower right hand side on the webbing.

I purchased two of these, thinking they would be great to just leave on as I motor to a spot and then jump up on the front deck to fish. As advertised they did exactly as I wanted to - however - humidity makes them go off easily and the little green pins always break way to easily as well. At $20 for the rearm kit, it can get expensive. The most disturbing thing is they are disposable. By that I mean if you happen to get a pin hole leak in one, it is now junk, it cannot be repaired and there is no replacement inner section for them. I have had them a couple short years and take really good care of my stuff, seems weird that it just developed a leak this easily. I am going back to the traditional life vests, can't keep throwing $200 away every couple of years.

We sail along the Pacific coast from Ventura to San Francisco and this harness, along with a tether, are highly recommended for any offshore sailing. On our boat, it is mandatory that it is worn in rough weather and while sailing at night. This unit meets all of the requirements for quality, safety and is comfortable to wear. The deflated compactness makes it very easy for any size crew to wear and because of the small size, movement on deck is not hindered by a bulky life jacket.

Vest was the correct one, in good shape, and delivered promptly. The inflatable vest is so much more comfortable than a regular vest. Good quality, I recommend it.
