It's helping me, and that's the long & short of it.
I'm a long term allergy sufferer and chronic sinus infections are the norm for me. I've had allergies since teenage years, have done every bit of everything possible including allergy shots, ENT doctors, MRI's, homeopathic, prescription, nose sprays and saline sprays. I've tried every combination, dosage and antibiotic. Many times. For several years large volume saline wash was my prescription for some limited amount of relief, mainly the NeilMed Sinus Rinse Regular Kit 1 kit . It helps, but my sinuses are so swollen at times that the water doesn't all want to come out even when leaning forward, and as it trickles out throughout the day or night I get earaches from it running over the Eustachian tubes. The exhaustion, complete tiredness, groggy foggy mind that comes from it? All of that. Hopefully that's enough to give you an idea of my level of suffering from sinus and allergy problems. On a personal recommendation I decided to try this product. It took me 2 or 3 bottles to figure out how it best worked for me. At first, it definitely wasn't hurting but I couldn't tell how much it was helping. Many people dilute it, and I found for me I'm best off to use it full strength. Rather than a whole bottle of saline, or this mixed with saline, using just an ounce or so of this, just enough to rinse from each side to the other, has been enough to bring me a new level of relief and decongestion. I choose to use the bottle that came with my NeilMed kit rather than the rinser that comes with this kit. Being someone who has to watch the BP, I also have to stay way from the decongestants and this has been a great alternative. I find this especially helpful to use an hour or two before bed and using far less liquid means I have much less issue with drainage at night like with the saline in a higher volume. Not to get too explicit, but this is the first product that not only decongests my nose but also causes me to need to spit after I've used it. When I used it mixed with saline, I had mediocre results. It had a good smell but really didn't get at decongesting me. At full strength I get the results I'd hoped for, but I doubt someone could start using this product full strength. It takes some time to get used to the momentary burn you get after it drains out-- a little bit like smelling salts or having a soda bubble back up into your nose. And that being said, I don't have "rebound issues" like you can with prescription saline sprays that cause you to get really congested again right after it runs out. The smell of the product is very much like a menthol, and while it doesn't smell like Vicks "vapo-rub" it can have a similar effect on the nose, and "punches you right in the face" for a second or two after using it. But it works. It's not so bad to make me tear up or anything like that. On the downside, the bottles aren't that big. If you plan to completely replace your saline routine like I have (mostly), it can get to be a little expensive. As well, if you travel you'll have to check it since it's already liquid, whereas the saline packets travel well but require clean water at your destination. On the other hand, even a bottle a week is still in the general vicinity of a prescription nose spray. So in summary: This product is now my product of choice. It took me 2-3 bottles to figure out how it was most effective for me, and other than cost, I have yet to discover any downsides. I can't call it a miracle like others, but it does help me stay functional and "non-funky" in the nose department. I waited more than a month before writing my review to give adequate opinion time.

I feel a diference, small but significant.
If you suffer from chronic allergies any relief goes a long way. I just found Alkalol and it has given me that small relief that makes the biggest difference. I've had all kinds of issues with my sinuses and actually had a deviated septum corrected as well as enlarged inferior turbinates, which have been reduced to about 50% of what they were. This helped a lot in so many ways, but also created a huge issue because many more allergens are able to wreak havoc on my sinuses because they are "normal" now. I breath better but suffer more from allergies all year long, which is almost counter intuitive. I use a Neti Pot and have for a number of years, it really helps. Adding Alkalol to my Neti Pot along with some saline packets has really improved my overal results. Alkalol loosens mucus much better and soothes my sinuses the way afrin does. Alkalol is a great alternative to chemical nasal sprays, especially since recent studies have shown that dependency on chemical nasal sprays can lead to a worsening of overall chronic sinus symptoms. Let's get this straight from the beginning though, that this is not the cure all miracle product that I wish it was, but it has changed my life for the better. I look forward to using this once or twice daily (once in the morning and once an hour or two before bed). I feel a substantial improvement overall. I can breath better and I can go almost the entire day without feeling many of the symptoms a chronic allergy sufferer endures daily. Like most others have stated this is powerful stuff. Find what ratio works best for you. It took me a few times to find what was best for me and to completely adjust to the sensation that is produced when you use Alkalol. After that it's smooth sailing. I do not use the included blue nose piece. I use a NeilMed's Sinus Rinse Bottle filled with water and about 1.2 ounces of Alkalol and one saline packet (half of the bottle on each side/nostril), which has been working great. At two rinses per day I go through 1 bottle of Alkalol per week, at 1 rinse per day it's 1 bottle of Alkalol per 2 weeks. I would say I average about 3 bottles/month. That's around $24/month without side effects. This ends up being cheaper than using prescriptions to counteract your allergy symptoms. Depending on what over the counter drugs you choose it can be less expensive as well. When using prescription or over the counter allergy medication I dry out and tend to get nose bleeds, then there is always the drowsiness that accompanies most allergy meds, even the ones that are "non-drowsy". One of the biggest benefits that I have enjoyed with using Alkalol is no side effects. Now all they need to do is make a 32 ounce and 64 ounce version!

My Secret Sinus Success Mixture
Having had sinus congestion for years... I've tried many things...you would not believe ! I was very happy to find Alkalol - A Natural Soothing Nasal Wash, Mucus Solvent. The last few years I have used it, and it works well in my nasal pot with salt water, but not totally perfect. I was praying for something stronger to actually heal my sinus and kill off the bacteria growing up there. Hey, this is WAR...Let's stop playing around. Recently I came across a 14% version of GALLIUM NITRATE dot com that I included a capful in my nasal wash. WOW... it strips my sinus clean. It kills bacteria and fungus, yet is safe enough to drink diluted. Not only that.. it kills pain ! Stops arthritis, joint, muscle pain. That is the real reason I purchased GN. But when I read more and discovered it killed bacteria too... Hey... Just what I wanted !! The way GN kills the bacteria and fungus is it interferes with their growth process with the Iron they use in their cell walls to multiply. Basically it weakens their walls, so when they try to grow they explode and die off. I added a capful to my nasal solution. My sinus ran for 16 hours the first time. Gradually it has decreased to 5-6 hours time. I can breath almost normally now for 2-3 days at a time, before I need to reapply it. Later I added 1/2 capful of DMSO to see if it helped the GN penetrate better. I really can not tell, but I still mix it in. As long as I'm getting results and making progress, I will stick to my formula. So yes, I think Alkalol works wonderfully.... but along with GN... nothing else holds a candle to the combination. I've been using this mixture now for about 4 months.. and never had any results like this. I'm optimistic that in another 3-4 months the bad bacteria in my sinus and ear canal will be killed, and I can breath normally again. However, make sure you have plenty of tissue around.. because you will need them if you use my recommended combination. I carried two handkerchief with me at all times using this combination. Plus try the GN on knees, hand, neck, back, hip and any joint pain. I only use a capful mixed with 1/2 capful of DMSO. Rub it in and let it dry. Expect to see results within 5 days for small pains, and within a couple of weeks for major back pain. After using GN on a problem for 3 week for small pains, and up to 2 months for bigger problems.. you may not need to reapply it for months. The way GN works for pain is it interferes with the process pain builds on. And believe it or not... I applied the GN, plus some Iodine to my scalp for an slow growing infection I've had for 45+ years. I have been to at least 20 MDs about it, spending at least $1,000 with each of them, with Zero Results ! Between taking MERSA Antibiotics last year for a double ear infection... 7 rounds of 5 different antibiotics over 4 months...2 of them via IVs for 6 weeks, and 1 of the IV was 3 x /day. The side effect was a 35% improvement in my scalp infection ! So the light bulb went off.. I knew what I had growing in my scalp finally. So I applied the GN to my scalp after getting results for my sinus, and it is 50%+ better now.. It is healing layer by layer... as the sores are smaller and less deep. Again, I'm expecting 100% success in another 3-4 months for that condition. So try both for your sinus. Maybe the combination will actually cure you.

Chronic Sinusitis? Help within here....
This review is for Alkalol. *Before trying alternate solutions for Nasal issues, please consult with your local ENT. Might be different than you think* I noticed that I was getting Sinus Infections over and over and over again. I would go see my Primary Care Doctor and they would give me a prescription of Amoxicillin or something similiar. I would take it and my symptoms would take a few days to clear up. However, every 30 days, I was getting the same problem: Head hurting, scalp pains, running nose, congestion, feeling ill, lower tooth pain, fever, etc. I knew it was time to go see a specialist. I was diagnosed with Chronic Sinusits and got initially tried the over the counter steroid sprays along with neti pot. Didn't really help, if anything made it worse as it would dry me out like crazy. Doc finally recommended I get a CT scan on my Frontal Sinuses. After initially refusing, I decided to go ahead and get it done. Doc saw that I had clogged sinuses and other things causing problems. Pretty much, my sinuses were packed with infected tissue and medicine wasn't good enough to get deep in there and clean em out. So I opted to have surgery (expensive surgery at that). The surgery made the persistent infections go away. I felt wonderful for about 6 months and then I got my first Sinus Infection. Thankfully, I have only had 1 or 2 infections since my surgery. However, I knew that I needed to upkeep my sinus passages in order to not have to go through that again. So as a sufferer of Chronic Sinusitis, I started ripping about the internet to try to find remedies to help keep it at bay. I stumbled up on Alkalol as a similiar product to the neti pot, but with some other properties. This stuff is strong. It never burned me, but boy oh boy, it will open your nasal passages up with a nice minty refreshing breathing afterwards. I would use it every day in the morning to help wake me up. It won't cure your problems, but it will help them for sure. 4/5 stars because I feel Alkalol is a good secondary product to the regular Saline rinse packets and Neti Pot. When you are having a really stuffy day, I would recommend put some of this in.

More Than Pleasantly Surprised at how well it works
I have been a chronic sinusitis sufferer for decades. I finally had a corrective surgery done back in 2009 and had very little problems or recurring Sinus Infections until June of 2012. Then I was back to back Sinus Infections from June of 2012 until the first week of October of 2012. I was pretty much sick the entire time and absolutely miserable. I returned to my specialist, Dr. Hung, for relief since he fixed me up so well with the surgery. Apparently I had Polyps that were induced by the chronic sinus infections and the only way to get rid of them was to either treat aggressively with Steroids, Anti-Biotic and multiple Sinus Washes a day or try step 1 followed by another surgery. My goal was to control the swelling and remediate my symptoms without the need for surgery. I was desperate for relief and Dr. Hung even recommended a 1/2 teaspoon of baby shampoo in the sinus wash to getter better results by adding emulsification to the mix. While that helped it was horrible and I hated it. I got on the web and started searching. I came across this product and a few others. Out of all the ones I have tried nothing has offered me as much relief as this product when combined a 2X Strength Hypertonic Solution. By following My Dr.'s Recommendations and incorporating this into my routine I have managed to achieve in 3 weeks what we could not achieve in almost 4 months of treatments. My sinus swelling has returned to normal, The Polyps completely shrank allowing for the remnants to be removed as part of a normal office visit without a surgery. My breathing is back to normal and I am down to 1 Sinus wash per day. No More Anti-Biotic and no more steroids. I am feeling great and breathing perfectly and it has been 4 weeks straight without a problem. Prior to this I haven't gone more than 3 days without the Sinus infection returning full force as soon as I finished a run of an anti-biotic. The Alkalol Product is actually a pretty simple product and it's ingredient's just make sense if you are familiar with things like essential oils. Menthol; Eucalyptol; Thymol; Camphor; Benzoin; Oils of Wintergreen, Spearmint, Pine, and Cinnamon; Potassium Alum; Potassium Chlorate; Sodium Bicarbonate; Sodium Chloride; Alcohol (2/100 of 1%) Most of these ingredients are in the Soothing category. They are cooling, reduce itching and reduce irritation and pain. That is one reason this product offers so much relief. Add to that the properties of Camphor, Thymol and Benzoin and Alum and you can see how the additional relief comes into play. Thymol is a product extracted from Thyme which is a Biocide and kills bacteria and has strong anti-microbial properties. Camphor has both Soothing properties and is also an Anti-Microbial. Benzoin has soothing Properties, Anti-Septic and Anti-Microbial properties and assist with preventing excessive drying of skin. You can start to see a pattern here. Now add to all of these very interesting ingredients the Potassium Alum, which is also an anti-septic, inhibits the growth of bacteria and is also a mucolytic agent which helps loosen and clear the mucus from the airways by breaking up the sputum. Without getting gross, All I can say is I got a lot of nasty stuff out of my sinuses using this product along with following my Dr.'s instructions. I am now healthy and happy! So once you look at all of the ingredients in their whole you can see how such a product is able to deliver great relief for those that really suffer from Chronic Sinusitis or allergies. I highly recommend it and it is now a staple in my medicine cabinet. One additional note - I also do not follow their precise instructions for this product nor do I use the little bottle that comes with it. I have an electric sinus wash unit that I am using this with which I also give a lot more credit to my improvements than this product alone. I am using this product with the SinuPulse Elite Advanced Nasal Sinus Irrigation System which I also really like and am amazed at how well it works as well. I don't believe this product made "the" difference in my health. But I believe it was a strong contributor, especially the cooling relief it offered when my sinuses were literally raw and just painful. If was like a cool dry breeze on a day that is too hot and too humid. It was a big giant "ahhhhhhh" at a time when I was just miserable. I highly recommend it.

Great product
Great product for my nose

So far so good!
So far so good. I had surgery to repair my nasal passages and remove a deviated septum about 2 years ago now. Now that I am healed, I am still getting constant sinus infections due to horrible allergies so decide to try this. I have only tried it once and it seemed to work great. I used this with my navage instead of a netty pot. This 100% takes some getting used to and you have to find what amount your sinus cavities can handle. Too much burns and not enough doesn't really do much. I will continue to use to see if it actually helps me out. Fingers crossed!
