Did the job! Warning - get the right bracket
Good quality part at a reasonable price. I wish I had tried replacing this before replacing the more expensive controller. A hint though: I didn't realize they were available with two different brackets, and naturally, I ordered the wrong one. In the end though, rather than spending another chunk of money to order the right one, I realized that the photocell head was removable, so I simply moved the head from this one to my old bracket and it worked great... I just spent more than I needed to because the heads are sold separately and at a much cheaper price.

Good part to keep in stock
I keep a spare one of these in stock for my oil furnace. Until last month, I'd never needed it, but one day I woke up to a house that was 54 degrees. Went downstairs, pressed the reset button on the oil burner primary control and the furnace roared to life... for about 30 seconds. I confirmed that ignition was taking place by feeling the chimney pipe, which was hot-- definitely a fire in the combustion chamber. Often if the burner trips the safety with a fire in the combustion chamber, you're dealing with a dirty or damaged cad cell. I pulled the cad sensor out of the furnace and checked resistance with a multimeter. With light shining on the sensor, resistance was about 1500 ohms. Cleaning it made no difference. For reference, Beckett recommends a resistance of 300-1000 ohms during burner operation and no more than 1600 ohm max. This one was right on the edge even with a strong light shining on the eye. Time for a new one. I installed the new sensor (a 5 minute job, at least on my burner) and hit the reset. The burner roared to life and kept burning. Problem solved. I did this at 5 AM (before my morning coffee, I might add) and had the house back up to temperature before I went to work. The burner has worked perfectly ever since. If I hadn't had this sensor on the shelf, I would've either had to take time off work to find one and install it, or deal with a cold house all day and fix it in the evening. As it stands, having a spare turned this into a 15 minute problem instead of an all-day ordeal. I bought another replacement the very same day. I doubt I'll ever use it, but for $18 I'd rather have it and not need it. This sensor, a spare filter, and a spare nozzle cost less than $50 altogether and will solve a lot of the common problems that will stop an oil burner from working.

Bought as a spare
After replacing my 30+ year old igniter coil (it was oozing tar of some sort but still working) my research suggested these eyes eventually wear out so I bought as a spare. I had to take out and reinstall the original when I changed out the igniter so the replacement is a snap in a a couple of wires, No big deal. I figured if mine fails, it would be in the middle of the winter, on a holiday night and I think I could put in the replacement in 20 minutes. Good investment for 20 odd dollars

Direct fit best quality no complaints.
Used this to replace the honeywell unit that lasted 30 years, but this one appears to be high quality, we shall see. Wires do not get pinched on new Beckett unit.
