Wow!
This movie sure did take me by surprise. My husband & I enjoyed it. Demi did an excellent job and her dancing (as an exotic dancer) was really good. She was very convincing.

this film is hilarious but also nice too
this film, is truly astoundingmoore's character in this film, is remarkable cause she makes friends with ppl at a job at a clubwhile there is some subplot involving her losing her fbi job, all because of the Incompetance of the dad characterand when u compare the erin grant character to moore's earlier character in disclosureapparently what could have given this film, a slight more humor is if she was in the same position as the michael douglas character in disclosure was, meaning, that yes she cares about her child and works at this bar, but she should have also understood that if a judge in this film is flat out crooked, along with a disrespectful ex husband, who obviously sees her daughter, and the aid to a congressman played by burt reynolds, who sounds to me like she should have gotten way way way way more help from :the detective character by armand assante, not to mention the two sidekicks that seem to like talking to her, including that bouncer played by ving rhames, if they had in this film, used some slight disclosure referneces even for a comedy, then the ex husband wouldnt have got away with the clueless ridiculous nonsense involving keeping her daughter under some sort of divorce order, and then of course, she could have decided to keep her new job rather than being forced back in to the fbi jobwhich to us, the viewers, seems like she should have been given a choice, and she should have chose to work at the bar more, rather than wanting her fbi job , and i kinda have appreciation for this movie, a lot more than disclosure, cause, moore's character is totally sympathetic of her kid, and she wants to do what she can to keep her safe, this film is truly wonderful, especially when u see moore with her kidi could have wished that we could have gotten additional time with the erin grant character in this movie , Much in the Same manner as how in Flashdance jennifer beals had her scenes , they could have done a Running comedy subplot joke more in line like the Zucker brothers film hot shots, Where you would parody Other movies, and the Two films i think this film should have got proper laughs from being lampooned are Showgirls and flashdance, the reason is out of those two movies, while Flashdance does have a really admirable cult following including being homaged on a Kid friendly level, Showgirls Does Not have as big of a cult following cause it was mostly aimed for adults but some older teenagers Like the film cause of the friendship between the dancers when they are outside of their jobs, this film is more neutral cause it is does have a child in the film, and that robert patrick solely is the main antaogonist, if this film had just as much comedy as flashdance did, Moore probably would have Pulled off a really interesting fun engaging to the audience extended version of all of her dance scenes, but with one catch, one of them would have Needed to add a flashdance reference like the im a maniac song and grant pulling a lever where she triggers water to fall on her hair

Not manic enough
"Striptease" is impeccably acted and well-directed. We have a great cast. Robert Patrick is fab as a no-good low life bum of a husband (how Demi More plausibly ended up married to him is imponderable.) But to see him wacked out on 'wolf morphine' is worth the price of admission. It is also fun to see Demi More's actual daughter, Rumer Willis in an early role. Willis plays the daughter of More's character. Burt Reynolds delivers one of his best roles as a mentally and morally deficient congressman in the pocket of Florida sugar interests. Ving Rhames also turns in a great effort as a strip club bouncer with a heart of gold. Armand Assante rounds out the more famous players as a homicide cop with a soft spot for victims and a hard spot for killers. All grand stuff. And w/director Andrew Bergman (who also directed 'The Freshman' and 'Honeymoon in Vegas' among others) put in the nifty extra efforts that don't have to be there but make a movie so much more fun. To whit-a poster of Fabio in the stripper's dressing room, a limo driver reading a book by L. Ron Hubbard, that sort of thing. Cool. So what went wrong? The film is based on a novel by comic writer Carl Hiaasen. When we read one of his adult level comic novels (not his police novels) we often laugh out loud. The movie does not make us laugh. Some quirky stuff, well lots of quirky stuff, happens but the overlay of murder and a young girl in danger put the damper on the funny parts. The movie made bank at the box office but Hiaasen never made another major adult level movie from any other of his many books. Too bad. I wanted funny.

Awesome movie for its controversial topic
I remember when this came out around 1990., it was labeled controversial like Showgirls with Elizabeth Berkley. People see the word "stripper" in the title, and automatically assume its porn, or some trashy R-rated thing to avoid. Not at all. Moore gives a dazzling performance as a single/divorced mother struggling to raise her child, as top-dollar high-class erotic dancer. The only profession that she's taken seriously, as an older, typically labeled 'expired woman' because of her age. When erotic dancers are generally retired, or work as servers or bartenders. The script is good. Stellar acting and direction. And the dancers are classy and can move. Not cheap 'choreographed' scenes of women disrobing.

STRIPTEASE

Demi Moore in Striptease
This is the third Demi Moore movie that I have. Like the others, it is different from most of my other movies. I found it somewhat interesting and I wonder if Demi enjoyed playing the role.
