This is a good value as the container is quite large and will last quite a long time. The sumac tasted fresh and was ground. If you’ve never used sumac before, it is a reddish orange colored spice that is used often for seasoning in Persian and middle Eastern cuisines. It has somewhat of a salty sour flavor to it that tastes delicious when sprinkled on cooked chicken and rice. I enjoyed the taste of this particular brand and find it is the exact same taste as found in the restaurants that have it on the table with the salt and pepper. I am happy with this product and would order it again.

With this product, I have finally added sumac to my arsenal of spices for the very first time. Its lemony taste is great with beans, vegetables, lamb, chicken and fish. Plus it is a healthy alternative to adding extra salt (I have to watch my sodium intake).I bought the Sadaf sumac here at Amazon because I live in a rural area of the USA where such "exotic" spices are not available. Yes, it is pure, tasty and very high quality! It is also quite expensive at $1.46 per ounce. I just had an opportunity on vacation to visit a well-known Lebanese grocery store in Brooklyn, where I noticed sumac sold for only $0.38 per ounce. Ordering Sadaf sumac via Amazon is a wonderful option for those of us who can't get sumac any other way, but check first in your area to see if sumac is sold locally and more economically.

Tastes like it should beI buy again and again

For those who haven’t tried it, sumac is an excellent kinda citrusy spice good on anything savory. Pretty color too. A must have with Middle East food.
