This is a 5w hang on filter with oil foam skimming function, with bio cotton and active carbon filtering plate included. It is with max output 132 GPH, can bring a good filtration effect. It works well for small and medium size tanks, stable working, long life cycle. Most of our colleagues who kept a small tank use it, worked perfect. Note: When it is first time used, maybe it will need to be filled with some water. For any questions, please feel free to let us know.

great filter for the money but not for the novice - unless you can find instructions on line
I needed a filter to fit a pre-made opening. This worked perfectly. I was surprised that there were no instructions but if you've had upwards of a hundred assorted filters over the 40 years of fish keeping, there was nothing difficult. The only thing that might give someone trouble is the mysterious plastic wavelike piece. This is a flow diverter that attaches to the bottom of the tank outflow. Overall works perfectly. I'll report back with an update if my opinion changes.I would have given 5 stars but for the missing instructions.

a nice pump, with a better media cartridge.
I was asked a question, " what type of cartridge do i use for this pump?" Too save money i purchased from Petco a Carbon & Zeolite blend for $5, also from the dollar store a pack of extra thick scouring pads plastic of course. The Zeolite keeps toxins and ammonia levels low. This is something the cartridge that came with pump does not include. I have a 30 gallon tank with 10 hungry cichlids of different assortment. They eat live fish and pellets, my reason for needing too create my own media.
