Modern Bee 13 Quilts to Make with Friends

I love the quilts in this book. However there were two things I disliked. First there is no table of contents with a small picture of each quilt. Publishers need to remember that many books are now digital. Not having an easy to view table of contents or an index has made this book very difficult to use. If I could return it I would and buy the physical copy. I love using patterns on my iPad but when i can't navigate it easily its almost useless. The second issue is about some of the patterns having too many points. There is too much use of HST triangles where square in square or other units would make sewing easier . Otherwise this is a fun book and I'm using it to participate in an Instagram Bee!

I purchased this book to participate in an Instagram Quilting Bee. I love the patterns and I love how the quilts are tailored for scrappy quilts. But, the directions assume you are cutting fabric for the entire quilt and parsing them out. Since our bee has everyone using their own fabrics, it takes a bit of decoding to figure out what I need to cut for each block. The directions are not super clear, but there are plenty of pictures to help. I've made four blocks already and enjoyed each one! There are definitely easier and harder blocks, so it works for all levels of quilters. And since there is such a large Instagram community using the hook, there is a ton of inspiration!!

This book prompted me to join my first Bee. As a newer quilter I had been hesitant to take part in any Bee, mainly because I had no clue what to expect and what was expected from me. This book contained all of the information I needed to know, and made me feel confident that I could join a Bee and not let any of my hive-mates down.Were I not to have joined a bee, I would still want to own this book. The quilts in here are fantastic, ranging from beginner to advanced. The instructions are detailed and clearly written. Very glad I decided to buy the book and join a Bee. I have a feeling I've made some life-long quilty type friends because of it!

Firstly I love the designs and fresh approach to the blocks and the modern layouts and instructions. All projects appear to be well documented and instructions are clear. I have already adapted one design to a quilt I have just finished and am pleased with it. I think this book has many great springboard ideas for Bees or single projects. I loved the descriptions and lists and instructions on how to run a Modern Bee.As an ebook I have been very pleased with this book's 'workability' on my Android. I have bookshelves which are groaning and very little space to put more without a cull, so to purchase and successfully be able to work with templates too is a bonus.

I joined the Modern InstaBee (hive 18) on Instagram recently and bought this book for guidance, both to understand how quilt bees work (this is my first) and for the patterns in the book. First the patterns are all great and once the bee is over I will enjoy making many of the patterns on my own. Second, this book gives a lot of great advice about starting a quilting bee, how to set up rules and troubleshooting suggestions for problems that can sometimes come up. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who wants to start a quilting bee or for anyone who just wants 13 great modern patterns. Either way you'll enjoy the book!

Love this book. There is something for every skill level. I'm participating in the moderninstabee2014 over on Instagram. This is my first Bee and I am really enjoying it. Have made a few blocks and it's been a lot of fun making them and getting to know the other bee members. It has also made me step out of my comfort zone and try other techniques. Now I am not afraid of sewing circles, they are not my favorite, but now I know I can make them if I want to. I will probably make most of the quilts in this book. Everything is very clear and the pictures are good.Happy quilting everyone!

This is a fantastic book!! I was so intrigued about participating in a Bee and now I can't wait to be in one, or even start one of my own. There are a lot of tips and hints to make a bee a success.The quilts in this book are great just on their own, and good for any experience level. I love it that as you flip through the quilt instructions, there is more instruction and helpful tips as you go. The instructions really progress as you continue through the book.The photography is great too, I just love looking at the pictures, but the projects are really doable.I definitely recommend this book.

Very clear and easy to follow directions. Complete instructions. It fills our need in these Covid times.

Having recently started quilting and trying to find like minded people in the United Kingdom this book is fantastic as I have just joined my first quilting bee! We have all picked a month each to decide which block the other members are making. Some of the blocks are looking rather intricate, but the instructions are clear and with some careful measuring and sewing it should all be possible.The blocks are all fresh and modern, which is rare to find so many of in one book.Great work by Lindsey Connor and fellow bloggers!

Just finished using this book for my second year running. The blocks I have made have gone to the UK, America, Australia and beyond........ they're easy to follow instructions and a lovely selection of blocks to choose from!

I purchased this book in order to start an online quilting bee which I'm really excited about. This book has everything you need to start one, with the addition of 13 beautiful quilt patterns. The quilts are modern, bright and fun, so much so that I'm having difficulty choosing which quilt I'd like to do as part of the bee. The instructions are easy to follow and detailed.

Lovely book and excellent delivery. Content graphics beautiful but took me a while to understand some of the terminology (think that's just me being new to quilting!). Looking forward to the beginners section!

Bought to take part in a virtual sewing bee. I'm new to quilting and some of the blocks take me out of my comfort zone, but the instructions are excellent and easy to follow. Happy to recommend - just take your time and follow the instructions.
