Great! Buy it!
I already have some curlers and this is my first flat iron. It soon becomes my favorite. I can use it to straight AND curl my hair. Even when I curl my hair in terrible style, I still can use it to make up. Plus it’s ceramic so won’t damage my hair.

No pull at half the price
I am happy to find that this flat iron heats up quickly and does a great job straightening my hair. It leaves my hair very smooth and shiny. I bought this model because I travel often and wanted one with dual voltage and a lock, which this has. I also wanted one with ceramic and tourmaline plates to protect my hair during use and to add shine, which this has as well. I was happy to find that the plates have no gaps and is easy to run through my hair with no tugging or pulling. This straightener is a great hair styling product! I was looking for a new straightening iron that could handle my thick hair and get it very straight, and this is definitely the one. I was very pleased with how smooth it went over my hair. There wasn't any grinding or pulling. The iron heats up very quickly and has several heat settings to ensure the right temperature for various hair types. If you're looking for an excellent straightener that doesn't break the bank, this is the one. The iron looks more expensive than it actually is, there's no reason to spend $80+ on a straightener from a salon when you can get this one that works just as well for less than half the price!

Does not have automatic shut off
I like this flat iron just fine. It feels good to touch like the material is soft silky- which is not necessarily important, but worth mentioning. It comes with two hair clips thatare quite useful for sectioning areas of hair.It heats up quickly and the plates press my hair like other flat irons I have used; so it works as it should. My hair is naturally wavy, so it’s not difficult to style.Unfortunately, it does not have an auto shut off feature. My other straighteners have auto shutoffs. There is nothing more important than peace of mind. If I’m in a hurry to finish my hair and leave, it’s all too possible to forget to turn the unit off. Also, I’m not sure about the curl /waving aspect. It’d be ideal for the iron to include a quick guide as to how one would use it to make waves with. When making waves with a flat iron, a little heat protectant glove is used/ is included with the iron.I removed two stars. One star removed for not having the important auto shut off. The other star removed for not including any additional information regarding using the flat iron as a wand that can make waves/not having the heat protector glove that comes with those types of styling wands. With so many straighteners available that include an auto shut off feature, I don’t know how highly I can recommend this one.

I can't stop touching my hair!
Hands down this is the best flat iron I have owned. I'm 44. I've been through many. I've not spent huge amounts on flat irons as they inevitably fail and have short life, probably because I use at fairly high temps to tame my thick, coarse mane. I think $60 has been my limit on a hair straightener but on average I bargain hunt for those on sale in the $30 range. This one though from Bownyu, what a huge surprise. My first impression when opening the box was that it was so well packaged. Then I took the iron out and loved the 'soft touch' feel of the rubberized finish. It's also comfortable to use and doesn't feel hot or slip in the hands. I also liked that there were styling clips included. It looks straight forward and plain, nothing fancy — no digital readouts, no shiny trim, no trendy colors. But what this iron lacks in style, it makes up for, and exceeds in substance. The swivel cord is smooth and prevents kinks in the cord while using. There is a safety lock to keep the iron closed. This is also handy for traveling so you don't have to wind the cord around the unit. I like also that I can use this on 240V power so that I can travel internationally with this. The floating plates are great to facilitate variable tension as needed.Performance wise, this iron glided through my hair with ease. I had just washed my hair and dried it so it was a wiry, frizzy black cloud. But the Bownyu wasn't phased at all. My hair came out the other end of the iron so smooth and silky. Silky like I've never experienced. Even the ends were smooth and healthy looking. I could make my hair cascade like a slow motion wave just like a Pantene commercial. And my hair looked like I had had an expensive keratin treatment at the salon with beautifully sealed cuticles and supernatural shine. The finish lasted three days before I washed it again, which is not usual for my hair. Amazingly straight and smooth.I had been considering putting money away for a T3, but at $180 I think I might wait a bit, if ever to purchase one as this Bownyu hair straightener has totally won me over and at an unbelievably amazing price for the level of performance. If you already have a favorite iron, get this as an affordable back up. You'll probably find you'll switch to this as your everyday styling tool.

Better For Thick Hair Types
I don't straightener all of my hair everyday, but I do smooth out some pieces on the top as well as a few pieces in my under layers that get really curly and frizzy. I have thin fine naturally wavy hair so I always use my straighteners on very low settings so I like that this has adjustable settings. It heats up quickly and has a long cord. I did not like the way this straightened my hair however. Even on a very low setting (250 degrees) it made my hair smell horrible and I felt like it was pulling or tugging on my hair. Because of this it may be better for someone with thicker hair as it seems to hold onto and pull/tug the hair as you are straightening. This straightener has a flat edge which I am not used to, my other straighteners have a rounded edge. I do like that it came with a carrying case and hair clips however one of my clips was missing half the teeth (picture 3). I also like that the plates can be locked together (see picture 4) which is great for storing it especially after use. Overall this straightener is probably best for those with thicker hair.
