Great cost effective choice for the 1-time job
This provided me with a very cost effective means of putting six 3 inch holes in a 1x6 piece of white board. I may never need to do that again. I had no trouble with the pilot hole bit coming out. It actually needs to be able to be disassembled from the 3 inch cutter to enable you to get the 3 inch core out after the cut is done. Like I said it worked fine on soft white board, would certainly work fine on pine. Would probably due fine on hardwood, so long as you didn't have too many holes to cut (and you had some patience with the cut)

Good enough for the price
I was doing an install of a dual split A/C unit that required a 3" hole ( Breeze Series BR0412W1A 4000-12000 BTU Single Zone Wall-Mount Ductless Split System with 12000 BTU Heat Pump 11.8 EER 17.8 SEER Quick Connect Line Sets and Thru-the-Wall/Window ). Wasn't looking to spend much for a one time install, and found this. My install required two cuts through drywall and one through hardiplank. The drywall cuts were a breeze, but the plug has to be removed after each cut as the saw is not very deep. The saw struggled a bit on the hardiplank, but going slow resulted in clean cuts all around. It's sharp enough still that I would feel comfortable repeating these cuts. this won't work on cuts to thick wood, but for a "cheapie" saw, it fits the bill.

Got the job done
I needed to drill a hole into the back of an Ikea entertainment center to run power cables to my gaming system and tv so I picked this little diddy up. It's pretty sharp and drilled just fine but can come loose quite easily if you don't use it in a particular way.Basically you need to drill a pilot hole first (with the center bit) and once that's all the way through you can use it to guide the outer drill. If you decide not to do the pilot hole first the outer drill will unscrew itself from the center drill bit and be of little use.

Decent but could be better.
This was solid and wasn't wobbly at all. Just needed it to drill a 3" hole in some plastic for a project. I wasn't impressed by the hole it left. It was as if the blades weren't sharp at all, but it at least got the job done. Plus the drill bit had a very blunt tip and took awhile to "dig in" making the hole off center a bit. You really need to pre-drill a pilot hole with a better, smaller bit first if you don't want to miss the mark.

Neded a hole?
I needed a 3" hole to fit a Powered desktop USB port into my desk. This drill bit was advertised on the same page as the USB port & was frequently bought together. I thought I'd give it a try, it'll save me a trip to the hardware store, right? I'm so glad I did. The drill bit came within a few days & I put it to work. The cut was clean, something I was worried about because my desk was brand new & had a dark cherry finish. as a backup predation, I knew that the USB port had a protruding lip that would cover any imperfections of the cut, but the cut was very clean. The drill I used was a cordless 19v craftsman and in combination took care f the task without any problems. If you need a hole go with this one.

Cuts a pretty accurate 3-inch diameter
Warning: make sure everything is tight before you use it. As shipped, mine was very loose.Unscrew the nut and cutting disc to reveal the set screw that locks in the pilot drill. Make it tight with an Allen wrench. Then put the nut in a vise and twist the cutting disc as hard as possible with a gloved hand.I didn't do it and almost wrecked it in the first 10 seconds.Cuts a pretty accurate 3-inch diameter.David

it is of very poor quality. My current project is the first time ...
while i understand it is a cheap item, it is of very poor quality. My current project is the first time in a long time i needed to drill a 3" hole so i figured i could get with buy a cheaper tool as it wont need to last long, Mistake. i needed to drill 1 hole through a 1/2" thick wood board, and 12 holes though 1/8" thick Plastic. I started with the wood and the saw was terribly dull, it took way to long to cut that whole with a lot of pressure being applied. then when i went to cut the plastic , i could not get the center bit tight enough to stop wobbling which caused very inaccurate cuts as well as holes that were over 3". While i completed the project I was left with inaccurate holes. IF i had to drill over 3 holes through wood, i do not believe it would last and would be extremely time consuming, if you plan to drill more then 2-3 holes just spend the extra $5-$10 on a better quality tool.

Worked, but tighten the saw before you start!
Used this for installing recessed LED lights. Size was perfect. Price was right. But the nut to tighten the saw onto the mandrel came loose several times which slowed me down. In my home, the drywall on the ceiling is fixed to boards of wood, which are fixed to the joists in the attic. Not sure if a brand name hole saw would have done better under the circumstances, but I was left expecting more. In the end it worked and the holes were sufficiently clean.
