Great book of small sided games and SSG ideas
If you're following the play-practice-play methodology or if you're aware of the Science of how important Small Sided Games (2v2 to 4v4) are to developing players as quickly as possible. The problem is where do you find these small sided games? There's drills aplenty on YouTube but with a few exceptions not many sources of good small-sided games.Peter has a great book here with lots of Small Sided games - mostly 3v3 but easily adaptable to other sizes or odd numbers of players (e.g. add a neutral player). I loved the "Four goal game" for midfield battles. The "Target player game" for passing through the lines. The "Midfielder game" for training wide players not to cross the center lines but for central players to flex wide as needed.Just tons of great ways to spice up your practice when they get tired of playing the same old 3v3 and tons of great ideas to help develop your players and get them lots of touches on the ball in an environment with opposition, attacking, defending, losing the ball, gaining the ball, scoring, winning, losing and all at a solid pace where everyone must contribute and it's clearer where things are working of where they are not - both for the coach as well as the player.A must for anyone coaching the game at U14 or below and a "should read" otherwise.

Especially useful when practicing with limited space/numbers
Found this incredibly useful when practicing in limited spaces. Gave good clear information and is a useful tool for most coaches.

Perfect drills to maximise time on the ball!
I've tried and tested a lot of different books, drills, on line and offline but this is by far the best I've come across, especially with slightly younger kids as they find the variety of exercises really engaging and stimulating. There is a whole host of exercises to pick from and I nornally get the kids to pick the ones they want to do, read the instructions, do the set up and almost take the set up and it's amazing the effect it has on how they do the session. The thing I love about this book is there is something for everyone and it keeps the kids fully engaged as they know the next session will be different to the next and that if desired it will build on from the previous one. This book has now found a place in my training bag!

A good book but not the right one for me!
A good book but not quite the right one for me.A big fan of Peter's work. A fantastic coach and coach educator. The book is absolutely perfect for grassroots coaches starting out on their journey. A great resource, which is easily digestible and to follow. A good foundation for coaches beginning their journey. However, I'd like to consider myself a coach who is quite experienced and has a games based philosophy, so was very familiar with these games and functions already.Perhaps some boundaries or constraints could be added to the games to add a little bit extra to them.If you're a coach starting out and wanting to do the right things, or a coach who has little time to plan sessions but wants to ensure he/she is providing the best sessions possible or even a grassroots club wanting to purchase a book for beginner coaches then this book is ideal!

A Brilliant Resource
This is a brilliant resource for all different kinds of age groups. It really focuses on the relationship between the player and the ball. The 3v3 sessions are clear to understand enabling you to implement them at all levels. The way they're shown (with diagrams and explanations) allow us to to get creative and put our own spin on them too. Whether you've been coaching for 10 mins or 10 years, this is a great resource of 3v3 sessions for all. I highly recommend this book.

The bible!!
I am a volunteer grass coach, coaching 2 teams at 2 different ages. This book has brought me more structure and variety to my sessions. Using the 3v3 as a base to work on I am finding myself being more creative with my idea, sessions are easily adaptable for different numbers. All coaches especially volunteer grass coaches need this book

A fantastic coaching resource
This is a fantastic, easy to digest and practical resource for coaches at all stages of their coaching career. Peter has a very clear way of explaining his thought process, steers clear of using coaching jargon for the sake of it and like all good coaching books you will come away with more questions and ideas for your own work. Thoroughly recommend for anyone who works with young player whether that be in grassroots or academy football.
