This is your answer.
I needed to carry two kayaks. I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee with factory rack and cross bars. We have 10' kayaks. I know the Yakima bars are neat but I didn't want the expense. I was worried my factory bars would cause a problem, and they did, but it doesn't matter. The Malone system is fantastic. Honestly, it felt more secure driving that when I just had one kayak strapped on with foam supports and tie down straps. The poles attached just fine to the cross bars and felt secure, although they will wiggle around when you move them with your hand but that is a fault of the cross bars. Don't worry about it. I put the foam supports on the cross bars, as instructed, and tossed one kayak up there. The cross bars bend down so much that I was worried about adding the other one. My Jeep is 11 years old so maybe they're better now. I then removed the foam supports from the crossbars and just put them on the roof of the car. On the inside of each of the cross bars. They sat a couple of inches lower but when I put the kayak up then, it rested on them fine.I just followed the instructions: loop the strap through the hole in the Malone pole, pull both straps over the kayak, running one underneath the crossbar and tighen it up. The kayak sat just fine up there before being strapped down. Although it is easier to do it with help, I could easily get it up there to be strapped in by myself. The other one went up just fine as well. There is an extra strap included used to wrap the two boats together and I thought was a nice touch. I put tie down straps from each of the boat's front and back to the frame of the car but I could tell that was just so your mirrors could tell you if anything was wrong up top.I really stressed and researched what to do to carry two boats because I really don't need to very often. My wife won't go as much as I do. No worries, I made the right decision. If you carry boats all the time, going long distance, then go Yakima. If you just want to run down to the lake without much hassle and not worry about losing a kayak, then this is for you. Interstate driving, 70 miles an hour... no noise or troubles. This is my first ever product review and I just thought I should tell you how impressed I am.One note: The description says it can handle four boats. It may, but factory crossbars will not be wide enough. You'll need the Yakima or Thule system for that.

Surprising!
This carrier suprased my expectations. At first, I thought there's no way this thing is going to hold our two kayaks on top of our Chevy Traverse all the way to our cabin (230mi trip). I was wrong! Installation was pretty simple (about 45 min.) and the supports fold down nicely when not in use... so my wife doesn't rip the carrier off when pulling into the garage. Stange tho... she did try to pull into the garage with the kayaks strapped on top!! Gotta love her!The 2 upright center supports seemed a little flimsy at first but once I got the kayaks up there and strapped them down tightly, everything locked into place very nicely. I have two 7-ft kayaks and I didn't even use the front/rear tie-down straps(i'm not sure how the longer kayaks wounld do without the front/rear tiedowns). The kayaks were strapped in so securely with the over/under tie downs, there really was no need for the front/rear.We've taken the kayaks on the 230mi trip a dozen times at speeds up to 80mph with no problems. Sometimes on a windy day with highway speeds you can feel the kayaks battling through the wind, so I'll stop once or twice (when the kids have go!) and just re-tighten the tie-down staps which can get a little slack in them if the high winds cause the kayak to slide on the crossbar pads a bit.Oh... also, I had a couple of the wing-nuts break that are used to hold the upright arms onto the roof rack (most likely because I tightened them down way too much the first time). I emailed Malone Corp with a photo of the broken pieces and they sent me out a bag of 10 more in 3 days... no questions asked! All in all... I really couldn't be more happy with this purchase.Still not sure why people spend $400-$500 on Thule racks when these can do the job for 1/4 the price.

Great Kayak mounting option! Fit more than 2 kayaks on a roof
Great Kayak Mounting system. We use it with a set of Malone 58" AeroBars v2. The mounts are easy to install, easy to use, and the fold-able design still allows them to be left on the vehicle when not in use. Mounting on the Malone Crossbar set was simple and secure, and the universal mounting plates look like they would function the same on any other bar style as well. With our setup on a 2009 Honda Pilot it is possible to mount 4 kayaks on the rack, something not possible with J hook mounts. 3 is very easy, and offsetting the Stax Pro 2 makes it easier to get everything tightened down securely. If you want to haul 4, simple loosen the Stax Pro2 knobs and slide it back to the center and load up.The only issue with the Stax Pro2 I see after using it for several weeks and dozens of loadings, is you need to verify you have the straps under BOTH ears before final tightening. It is possible to have a strap miss one ear when taking up the slack. I,m sure it would hold just fine, but 2 is better than 1. A top with a loop would make it impossible for this to happen. Not a big deal, just verify the strap is placed correct before final tightening ang tying off.

Works Great, Takes Little Space on Rack, Easy On & Easy Off
I have a small sedan with Thule square bars and 2 Yakima bicycle carriers. I ride my bicycle and take a friend's far more often than I have a kayak on the roof so I wanted something I could use to carry a kayak or two without having to remove the bicycle carriers. Various saddle systems will carry on kayak but this carries two and does it well. It was very easy to put the posts on my roof rack and very easy to figure out how to use. I think the instructions make it more confusing than necessary. Of all the mounting systems I've seen that carry a boat on its side, this one had the best pads. It also comes with literally everything you need at a price you can't beat: 2 posts, 4 foam pads, 4 straps to tie the boats to the posts, 1 strap to tie the boats together and 2 pairs of bow & stern straps to secure the boats to your bumpers. My Thule load bars are pretty short and I was able to keep the bicycle carriers on and carry a big tandem kayak and a wide recreational solo kayak. My drive was only a few miles but it did include highway driving. If you want the option to carry 2 kayaks, this is the way to go.

Great option to transport kayaks
Super easy to assemble and install. Managed to get 2 full size and a youth kayak loaded using this system.Tie straps are covered to avoid scratching the car. Would recommend. Not pleased that I got a used product. Stackers were very scratched up.
