A rich, practical, sacred resource
This book is written in a beautifully practical and accessible way while providing a rich abundance of meaningful and magical tools for enhancing our connection with intuition, spirit, and self. I am so grateful to have learned from Lisa Marie Basile in a workshop, and I'm so glad to have this book as a companion of her wisdom that I can carry with me wherever I go. I recommend this to anyone new to magic, spells, and writing, as well as anyone who is deep in their practice and wants to refresh their approach with sacred creativity.

Brilliant For Writers, Regardless of “Witch-ness”
I adore this book: in that complete, committed way you fall into a wise, charming, beautiful new author’s body of work, knowing you will be a lifetime fan from the very first read. Since it arrived a few days ago, I’ve carried it with me everywhere, like a lovely fluffy kitten, for the joy of having it nearby. The author captures the absolute magic of writing, including the requirements (while allowing them to remain unique to each of us) for great writing from the place of vulnerability & personal spirit. She pens some of the best turns of phrase I’ve ever read of the definitions of difficult to describe concepts & processes associated with ritual & creativity. I myself don’t have adequate words to describe the great joys of this little book for writers. The physical book is delightful to hold, (again, like a kitten), & the pages are formatted in a way that invites you to write notes to yourself on them, to highlight, even to color the lovely line illustrations. Please do not make any assumptions that could dissuade you from buying it. It’s for anyone & everyone who writes anything & wants to write truer words from a deeper place in their spirit. I have zero witch knowledge or background (as you can probably tell from the title of this review!) & I would feel completely comfortable gifting it to anyone of any spiritual orientation (maybe with a quick explanation like “It’s “Writer Magic”! Embrace the archetype!” in the gift card for some).[Thank you so much, Ms. Basile, for this delightful book & your wonderful work. I stumbled across this title while searching for a 2021 planner with moon cycles included. Perhaps you could quickly create a 2021 planner for writers based on this book’s concepts? In your spare time? No pressure, as there’s still a month or so left in 2020!]

Compassionate and wise, beautiful and practical--A freaking amazing resource
Already an admirer of this marvelous word witch via her fierce, tender poetry and her lyrical, profoundly heart-stirring writings, I devoured her previous book and was over-the-moon excited for The Magical Writing Grimoire. Of the elements that deeply spoke to me in that book, it was the rituals and exercises that involved writing I found myself most psyched about. As a bit of a word witch myself, I find that written language is the realm I am most comfortable exploring and creating in, and I was thrilled to see that Lisa was expanding these practices to encompass an entire book!Part guided journaling practice, part magical grimoire, The Magical Writing Grimoire explores the transformative power of writing in Lisa's compassionate and dynamic voice which reads both beautifully poetic and earthily relatable--not an easy balance to strike, but Lisa seems to manage it effortlessly. Each chapter contains writing prompts, writing rituals, meditations, and poetic wisdom. You’ll find shadow work, bibliomancy, automatic writing practices, incantatory poetry, and more. I don’t think I need to tell you, this is a freaking amazing resource

How much do I love this little book?
I was a huge fan of Light Magic for Dark Times (still am) but I *really* love to write, so when I found out the author was going to put out a new book on writing as ritual, I pre-ordered it, months in advance. Writing has always been a cathartic process for me, but I love where this book takes it. Like Light Magic, the rituals and exercises are accessible, the writing personal and personable, and you don't need to really be a "witch" to work the kind of magick you'll find inside (that's a pun, sorta, about how you'll learn about yourself by using writing as spiritual practice, if you will - and who knows, maybe "wordcraft" is your witchy thang and you just didn't know it).On the surface: the book itself is really beautiful, just like Light Magic was... It's gorgeously designed, lovely to hold in your hands, and inspiring to read. It also makes a great gift for anyone who loves to write and sees the magick. You really can't open this book without being delighted.

Powerful, Inclusive, Compassionate
I had high hopes for this book having read & love Light Magic for Dark Times, it’s predecessor. This book surpassed my expectations, it’s such a beautiful book, with gorgeous end papers & illustrations. The writing is informed, inclusive and compassionate. It’s a beautiful companion on a spiritual or wellness journey.I was very impressed with the depth and quality of the exercises within the book, I can see the author’s years of study & psychological understanding underpinning the approachable but powerful exercises. As a therapist, I would be happy recommending this book to folx who wanted to explore a journalling or writing practice, especially those with a spiritual or metaphysical outlook. Although the book calls on the archetype of the witch, I believe it’s inclusive of those of any faith. It’s a beautiful book and has found a home alongside my own journalling practice. The sections dealing with difficulty are especially welcome at these painful times.Highly recommended.
