This hanger is a two part system, one side fastens to the wall and the other fastens to the skull. The hanger is designed to prevent the skull from rotating. The 100% steel design also provides plenty of support.

Crap fabrication quality.
The post is not seated at a true 90 degree angle. It leans about 5 degrees in one direction. The post is also canted and has a slight twist, so it does not pair up to the skull bracket on the same axis. So on the wall mount, I had to simple align it much less than dead vertical to offset the post angle and cant. The amount of extra fluxcore at the welds is baffling too, it takes 2 minutes to grind it down and give it a better look instead of covering in black paint. This is shop class level fabrication and apparently the student that did mine missed grades 1 - 10.

Effective and more convenient
This was a superior mounting implement to any of the homemade ideas we had in mind. We used washers between the skull mount plate lower hole and skull to get the angle right. We also used a bit of grease on the square cross-section rod to ease sliding the skull/plate portion onto the wall mount plate. One point worth mentioning, as others have, is that the square rod and hole do not have the best fitment (thus the lube), and the holes for both the skull plate and wall plate seem to be cast, and should likely be drilled out in a drill press as a final production step. The weld on the square rod to the wall mount plate is sloppy, but holds in our case after test tugs off and on the wall. We had to drill out our holes to get wood screws to pass through the wall plate for mounting. Overall, far superior to other options, stable, sturdy, but with some lower-end finish, fabrication, and details, but effective and functional, and with little competition out there worth any mention.

poor weld quality, can break and lead to damage of euro mount and/or injury to people.
Upon receiving the mount I first noticed the horrible "weld" quality. But I figured it should have held up....but it didn't. Luckily, as I went to grab the antlers to pull the skull back off the mount to adjust the plaque the mount was attached to, the mount snapped as I was holding onto the head. Luckily it didn't break after I let go which would have certainly ruined my wife's European mount, and possible seriously injured a family member below.*Still waiting to see what the seller is going to do to make this right.**Edit** seller shipped a replacement that appeared to be of better quality. So far it has held up.Upgrading from 1 star to 3 star based on the customer service. However, it still baffles me how they initially let one of their mounts get shipped to a customer with such poor workmanship/weld quality.

Don't use this somewhere highly visible!
While this product seems structurally sound after install, i have some concerns about the strength of the welds given the lack of quality fabrication based upon the attention to detail. The back mounting plate isn't a even a nice rectangle and looks very poorly cut with a plasma cutter (see pics) and the flat black paint rubbed off after being lightly touched with the second piece of metal (that mounts to the skull). For the high price point and use on something you are displaying for people to look at, you would expect a better finish! Overpriced, i recommend looking elsewhere.

Couple things
#1) the square hole was too small and I needed to enlarge the hole.#2) Would like to see pictures with the written instructionsThe mount was strong and well thought out. Once I figured out the terminology on the instructions things went relatively smooth. I would definitely but again.

would def use again
welds were fine (Im a welder) . I strongly suggest mocking up your mount first...I did mine on the backyard fence to get everything square and level before attaching to the wall in the livingroom. Came out great-

simple and solid enough for a heavy red stag
i had the heavy duty skull hooker for my red stag European mount. it is similar in size to an elk. the skullhooker bent under the weight. Plus, the skull hooker protrudes wayyyyy out from the wall. This system is solid, simple. my Only recommendation is to tap a screw somewhere so you can adjust the angle. It tends to wobble a little bit. we figured it out with some shims.

Works great. Simple and sturdy
Works great. Simple and sturdy. I ordered this after trying the Skullhooker which I was not happy with. This works and displays so much better
