Briggs & Stratton 499421 Interlock Switch Replaces 398758, 398639

Replaced this safety kill switch on my Toro 22inch Recycler (Model No. 20067 - 270000001 and up.) lawnmower with a B&S engine. The ear for the lead connector had broken, so the mower couldn’t start. I removed the cowling, but not sure you need to if you can see the switch well. Cheap fix. Probably saved $50 to $100 and took about 15 minutes.

Received the same switch as the original. Worked perfectly and the price was very fair. Shipping was super fast which really meant a lot. Recommend 100%.

This was the right part for the job. Fairly easy to install too.I still don't know what the purpose of this part is for. My mower worked just fine without it. I only replaced it because I noticed the cable lead had broken off of it. If anybody knows what it does, write a reply.thanks.

Was exactly like the one I replaced and it worked to let me charge the mower battery finally. I did not discover the problem until I saw one of the wires disconnected due to the broken clip on the interlock switch. Thanks a lot.

Perfect fit. This will save you time and money from having to take it to a shop the old one one of the leads busted off. This worked great back in business.

I was able to cut my lawn 1 time and motor stopped working again.Installation instructions, with pics, would also help.How can I bypass this useless switch?

Good product but took awhile to get it!! The post office was the problem!!

My electric start mower had failed in a big way and, although the battery was fully charged, refused to show the slightest gimpse of wanting to start. A short time spent fault finding brought me to a faulty micro-switch. Using the part number embossed on the casing I searched the internet for a replacement part and managed to find a few results, but the best of these was on Amazon where I could buy the part cheaper (inc. shipping) than I could directly from Briggs and Stratton who were the people who would eventually fulfil the order. After fitting the part to the mower it started straight away and once again we have beautifully maintained lawns.
