This great for really wet washes and lifting.

I prefer working from a watercolor block because I really don't like stretching watercolor paper. Arches paper performs wonderfully, and I can remove a finished painting from the block to start on a new project. I actually have 2 blocks so that I can work on more than one project at a time.

The paper its good quality but the package has to protect more the edges. When the paper arrives the edges of the paper was bent. When you are spending on this paper its to paint an art piece and the paper has to be perfect.

Nice rough watercolor paper. Love it in the block. When you let your work completely dry before removing it it remains flat. The pic above I removed it too soon and there is some curl. Works well with acrylic paint too.

I noticed this pad is not white. I haven't had that problem in the past. I will use the paper but it is sort of off-white. Otherwise, it's the same great paper as ever!

The first two paintings done on this block were fine (wedding then graduation) but the third started buckling three days ago and I have to turn it over and weight it down overnight so I can paint the next day. Someone else said they had this problem with Arches Hot Press block 9 x 12, but I had no issues with that and you can check my review there. Very disappointed as I purchase what I believe to be a quality product for my commissions. Not sure what to do now.

I've purchased Arches watercolor blocks in various sizes for years. When I was teaching, they were part of the curriculum, even though I would still demonstrate stretching paper so that the students would have an understanding of both methods. Bound on all four sides with a small "slit" to release the paper when the painting is finished, the surface will bubble up slightly when wet, but return to its flat stage when dry. Good for all stages of watercolor painting- wet in wet, wet on dry or glazing. Great product, and highly recommended.

Great quality Arches paper on a block means no wrinkles: paper stands up well to repeated washes of colour. Hard to find in square format. This is 8x8 in or 20cmx20.
