I primarily bought this unit in order to light up my backgrounds (especially whites in order to achieve whitey-whites), although its primary use is to highlight hair.It works as expected. For the cost as compared to name brand units such as Westcott, it's unbeatable. It feels flimsy when set up, but I've found it to be reliable and has held up well as I use it. I have no studio and take it on site for product shots. Setup and take-down take me about 15-20 minutes each, so if you plan on taking it with you on shoots, add an extra 30-40 minutes to your schedule. I've had no quality issues as of yet with all of the set-up and tear-downs it's gone through. The quality of emitted light approximates natural sunlight very closely. The attached cord is plenty long enough for most shooting situations and the head seems to be well built. This is a great little light setup for an inexpensive studio. For counterweight, I use handfuls of pennies sealed in Ziplock sandwich bags and then placed in the supplied bags.Four stars instead of five due to the "flimsy factor", but that shouldn't discourage you from purchasing one.

I received it, took it out and started to set it up it took me 30 minutes to get it set up. During this process I noticed it had a broken arm part. I was still able to mostly set it up to use it. I e mailed the company and to this day 2 weeks later they have still not responded to me about the broken part. This company not what I would call a company I will do business with again. If you ever have to take your boom light stand up and down....don't get this one. I'm luck that I can just leave it set up cause it is a serious pain in the ass to take apart and put back together.

I will not recommend anyone to purchase this item. I purchased this item even after reading all the bad ratings. Now I Have to agree with the rest of the bad ratings. I received my item with parts missing. I am very highly disappointed with my purchase on this item. I even called the company and all I got was a answering machine.Received the box partly damaged. Missing the main parts in the box to support the softbox on the pole and missing the main black part to support the arm piece through the holes to support on the stand. I even watched this company videos to make sure I had all the correct parts. Apparently I don't. The one in the video look better than the crape I received. [...] The directions for putting this item together is a straight hot mess. Hoping to get the replacement parts.

Save your money! Purchased to use in my studio and it is not well made. The stand is no where near strong enough to hold up the Boom Softbox!The connection points are straining and bending when the boom is extended and this is on the first use so I am not expecting it to last much longer!I am back and I was right it did not last very long - 2nd time that I was going to use it the connection broke! I did not even take this down after the last shoot. Posted pictures!

Thoroughly good online experience, really great product - thoughtfully engineered, cleverly packed and reasonably priced.All buying experiences should be like this.
