Guide to Analysing Companies (The Economist)

Good for begginers
If you you're not familiar with financial analysis for companies, this book is really a good start. Some people complain about the use of British terms, but they're not hard to understand. The language used is simple and succinct; this book would be titled "Analysing companies for dummies", if it wasn't published by The Economist.

The book was a major help.
The other review must have been reviewing the last version of the kindle book which is fixed, this book was incredibly helpful in running an analysis on my company.

... resources to help explain reading financial statements and someone recommended this book
I am a beginner and was looking for resources to help explain reading financial statements and someone recommended this book, I found it very hard to read. Maybe it would be a good book for someone more advanced.

Terrible
Just avoid it. The book is dreadfully organized, jumping from heading to heading within each chapter without any rhyme or reason. It mixes Britishisms and American terms at will, including for key concepts, and states outright contradictions that will confuse readers who are looking to get into financial analysis (e.g. "a funds flow statement is a cash flow statement," followed a few pages later by, "it's not.") The book is full of this stuff.

Stampa “Made in Amazon” deludente...
La stampa “Made in Amazon” è molto deludente. Mancano i numeri delle pagine nell’indice ed il taglio grafico non è pedissequo all’originale. Posto che mi aspettavo la copia originale.

Good reference
May be a bit too general for specialists but provides a nice overview.

Full of typos, flaws, and no structure
I was really looking forward to reading this book...However, it’s full of typos and contradictions which hamper the flow of reading. Different heading styles are very common. Sometimes bold, sometimes not, without any pattern, really. Accounting tables are shifted so that you have to spend some time figuring out the actual rows / columns for yourself.Structure-wise this book is quite randomly put together....and it feels like no one has proof-read the book. Even the table of contents is not correct (e.g. missing the page references, just indicating “000” for each topic). Also on some pages the reader may find remarks such as ‘<TEXT TO COME - LEAVE 3 PAGES>’...and of course, the next pages are blank with no text. ;)I’m actually a little shocked that The Economist sells this, given the amount of unprofessionalism that stretches throughout the whole book. The concepts are interesting but unfortunately it is a pain to read due to the above mentioned flaws and typos.
