Great stuff from Mad's best years.
Absolutely a top quality book filled with some great Mad moments. I didn't particularly care about the celebrity essays (though Penn Jillette had a good one) but the reprinting of these cartoons is worth the price. The book is oversized, which brings everything to about the size it was in the original magazines. There's also a giant fold-out in the middle with a poster of Alfred on one side and a scenario of the Mad offices by Sergio Aragones on the other. Unlike the recent Mad reprint books, this one dips more into the older Mad stuff of the 60's through the 90's (which I consider the best years for Mad). That means the book will actually be funny to adults rather than the way it currently caters to 12 year olds. It's a little pricey, but for a hardcover collection of some of the better spoofs and "articles" from Mad, it's a collector's dream. I wish it was about twice as thick, or that they'd come out with a volume 2 soon. This is the stuff they should be reprinting in the collections now.

Excellent book
I don't buy most of the MAD anthologies because there are far too many of them recycling old materials. But I bought this one for the fresh material of MAD's best contributors sharing their thoughts about MAD and picking their favorite work. Many of these artists and writers worked for Bill Gaines for several decades and had a huge quantity of material to choose from. Who would have guessed that Mort Drucker's favorite story, after 50 years, was Patton? And this book wisely reprints the full version of the choices, so we are able to appreciate what the artist or writer is describing. This was an excellent book, shedding behind the scenes insight into some of MAD's best. If you believe, like I do, that MAD was an important cultural phenomenon, you'll enjoy this book.

Mad
I am a big fan of mad magazine, but the font size was hard to read and it was annoying to slide the page downward to change the page.

What fun!
Got this as a present for my brother, who grew up reading MAD in the 60s. Wanted to keep it for myself, gave it to him, anyway. I like the way it's organized by genre, not chronologically. Funny how politics changes, but stays the same!

Just as good as the first one I read! Nice to know I still appreciate adolescent humor!

Great fun
Great fun for a lifetime fan. All the best contributors are showcased.Only problem is that it doesn't view well on the Kindle reader. On the iPad, in colour and with the bigger screen it's much easier to read. Still, it's a great buy.
