The Plaato Valve V2 is easy to install and use.
The Plaato Valve V2 is a small, plastic device that is designed to prevent suck back in airlocks. Suck back is a problem that can occur during fermentation, when the pressure inside the fermentor drops and air is drawn back into the fermentor through the airlock. This can introduce unwanted bacteria and wild yeast into the fermentor, which can spoil the beer.

It does it's job!
Product definitely helps! Don't ferment without it :-)

Compact, simple and modest cost.
A low cost way to improve my homebrew. While having sanitizer get into the finished beer isn't a major crisis, air being introduced during cold crashing is detrimental to delicate aromas in IPA's. While not as sophisticated as CO2 recovery systems costing much more and more complex, the Plaato helps fill that gap.

Poorly designed.
I bought this because my Plaato airlock was having issues with suck back when cold crashing. While this device did prevent suck back, it also leaked air going out. So the bubbles during slow fermentation did not go through the airlock but leaked out of the check valve, making it seem like fermentation had stopped and making the Plaato IOT airlock useless for monitoring fermentation bubbles. But what’s worse is the tapered design of the bottom half. Using a soft rubber bung in my fermenter the taper caused the entire airlock to “eject” and land on the floor. Not caused by air pressure but because it’s a slippery wet cone in a slippery wet rubber bung so it just... slides out. For $15 from a company like plaato I’m really disappointed.

Prevents liquid suckback, but allows in air. Overpriced.
This valve is extraordinarily simple. Essentially, it is a tube with a one way diaphragm valve consisting of little more than a silicone rubber disc. It allows gas out of the top of the tube until a vacuum is present, at which point air flows in through the valve on the side, which prevents suckback of the liquid in your airlock. Of course, it still allows in gas,. So, if you’re worried about oxidation from air infiltration, you’ll need to attach something like Brülosophy’s Brüloonlock to the valve so that it sucks in CO2 instead of air. This item should cost no more than $7.

Works well
This equalizer works well when you are fermenting and having greater expansion and contraction than normal. It eliminates suck back from your bubbler so you won’t run dry. The air intake is minimal thru the device and by using sanitizer on the filter I’ve never had a contamination issue.

Inexpensive tool that helps your brewing
Works as advertised. Prevents back flow of fluid from airlock into fermentation vessle with cold crashing and with direct transfer

Idee gut, Umsetzung mangelhaft

Fully recommend
This little valve is so clever, it stops suck back from your bubbler on your fermenter when you take samples. It simple, inexpensive and works well. Love the little match box it comes in too

Not as good as their other kit
Great in theory, but weight of this and the Plaato airlock didn’t hold steady in the rubber bung… this gadget is just a little too broad.Absolutely stopped suck back from the airlock, but also allowed air to escape rather than through the airlock. Also tried with simple airlock… nah!
