Takes a little while to become a pro at locking and unlocking this bad boy so I'd recommend a little at home practice before taking it to the street. Setting the alarm off can be a little embarrassing if you're fumbling around trying to figure out which way the key turns. There's no foolproof lock and this certainty can be cut with the right tools although having the extra layer of protection and an ear piercing alarm with have thieves looking at easier targets. Like Ice Cube says "protect yourself before you wreck yourself" and this lock is definitely worth the investment especially if you're spending several grand on an E or other high end bike. Wouldn't trust this as a long term overnight solution nor would I feel confident in a low traffic environment. This lock is best used in an area of high visibility with lots of foot traffic for short trips. For stays of several hours I would consider using this in combination with something else. Nothing will stop a committed thief but I feel the combo of lock and alarm is worth the price they're asking for this lock.

so far it has worked well I lubed the lock to make it smooth. you have to be a bit fast to knock it before the alarm goes off. I find its best to leave it so its easy to access the key so yo ulna do it in time.

Nothing stops the bike thieves. It took 2 weeks and my €3k e-bike was stolen, in bright daylight, on a crowded city street in Stockholm. It probably did not take more than 30 seconds for the thieves to cut the lock, and none cared, nor about the 90dB siren the lock is equipped with.

Robustes Schloss. Lässt sich ohne und mit scharfgestellter Alarmfunktion anschließen. Und das ist auch wichtig, denn man macht sich schnell lächerlich mit dem Schloss. Es ist leider viel zu feinfühlig und macht beim kleinsten Ruckeln schon einen Warnton. Wenn man das Schloss mit seinem Schlüssel öffnen will löst man ausnahmslos selbst die Alarmanlage aus und plötzlich sieht man selbst aus wie ein Dieb. Außerdem wird ja davon auch die Batterie nicht verschont. Also Alarmfunktion eher suboptimal.

Habe das Schloss nun seit ca. einem halben Jahr und nun nach mehrmaligem Gebrauch fängt das Schloss an zu hakeln und der Schlüssel geht nur noch sehr schlecht rein. Absolut nervig wenn man sein eigenes Fahrrad nicht auf bekommt und der Alarm los geht. Musste mich schon des öfteren vor Passanten rechtfertigen weil ich mein eigenes Fahrrad nicht auf bekomme.

Zunächst mal: von der Idee her ein tolles Produkt. Das Handling beim Aufschließen, ohne dass weder der Probealarm oder richtige Alarm losgeht, will etwas geübt sein. Dies ist aber nach kurzer Zeit kein Problem. Kleiner Tipp: falls der Probealarm losgeht, einfach das Schloss in Ruhe lassen und ein paar Sekunden warten, danach das Aufschließen erneut versuchen.Jetzt kommt das ganz große Manko: offenbar ist die Elektronik derart empfindlich, was Spannungsabfälle einer schwachen Batterie angeht, dass ab Temperaturen von unter ca. 4°C beim Zusammenstecken ständig der Ton der Batteriewarnung losgeht. Dieser unterscheidet sich von den anderen beiden bekannten Tönen, ist aber leider trotzdem infernal laut und extrem nervig und mitunter auch peinlich. Ein frische Batterie kaufen, hat nicht viel gebracht, nach ein paar Tagen war wieder das gleiche Phänomen. Ein kostenloser Austausch der Alarmeinheit seitens Abus hat leider auch nicht viel gebracht. Wieder das gleiche Problem. Offenbar ein Konzeptproblem der Schaltung. Ich habe das Schloss somit zu Amazon zurückgeschickt, schade. Ich bin froh, dass ich das Schloss zur kalten Jahreszeit gekauft habe, mir wäre dieses Problem sonst nicht aufgefallen.

From my brief internet research I have learnt it’s not the strongest lock that exists for ebike. If you want a fool proof lock look at Abus’s U/D Lock with ratings between 15 & 20. Having known that, it’s still does an excellent job. The alarm feature is very handy. I tend to use it on many errands and sometimes I am not comfortable leaving the bike far if I don’t get a parking rail close to a shop particularly for curbside pick up situation. So I take it indoors leave it in front of a camera, lock the rear wheels to the frame (as there are no indoor parking rails where I do this) and engage the alarm mode. My alarm has gone of a couple of times I did this but the loudness of the alarm is definitely a deterrent to those who try funny business with the bike!If my experience changes I update here!
