Hotel Transylvania [DVD] [2012] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC]

More often than not, if you ask someone to name a vampire movie, they will throw anything at you from Dracula (take your pick of which version) to the Underworld series. My point being: Its very rare to find a tale crafted for a family audience. As a fan of the vampire genre, and someone who will still occasionally indulge my childish side, I just couldn't help but order this film. I was so far from disappointed. After having watched the film some 2 hours ago, I am still laughing at remembered lines and genuinely have a warm feeling inside. I'm sure this is a film I'll watch many times over. Buy it and enjoy it with the whole family. I'm certain you will be glad that you did!

I like watching films as much as the next bloke, but watching movies with the children can be painful, there is such rubbish avaliable for children to digest and most children's movies therefore are such poor quality that they are unwatchable for adults let alone the children. However this film (unlike it's sequel) is fun and really well crafted, it's got a really lovely story, songs, and animation quality. Very good family entertaining for both adults and children. Perfect for a rainy Sunday afternoon. 5 stars. Early years children can find it scary due to Moster content but stick with it as it dispels the fear that mosters are bad.

I'd started watching this on TV and unfortunately the recording failed half way through, was enjoying it enough to look it up on Amazon, and managed to get a used copy on Amazon market place for next to nothing. It's a fun film that can be enjoyed by both children and adults. Looking forward to seeing the follow up.

Was a bit cautious about watching this with my 2 and 4 year old girls but a friend recommended it and I'm so glad we did. It is very funny, great characters and lovely storyline. Dracula has built a Hotel (as per the title) to allow monsters to have a holiday safely away from humans (they are scared of humans in a slightly Monsters Inc style). He is a very overprotective dad to his daughter Mavis, who is about to her her 118th birthday ("I'm 118 not 83" - I could so relate with a teenage daughter myself). Drac promised her that on this birthday she could go out of the hotel to see what humans are really like and suggests she goes to the nearest village. She does and meets the zombies dressed up as humans who do their best to be awful to her and home she goes (of course this has all been set up by Drac and the village is only pretend). Unbeknown to them though, a young explorer follows the Zombies back and ends up arriving at Hotel Transylvania. Drac ends up having to disguise him as a distant cousin of Frankenstein's right arm and naturally, Mavis falls for him. A touching scene when the truth about Dracula's family emerges had us all with quivering chins. However, Drac wants him out of the castle as he feels his influence is bad (everyone is suddenly having a really good time) and he reluctantly leaves but then Drac realises that his daughter has experienced her first 'zing' of love and he has to get him back. That's when they find out that the town and people really do think that the monsters are cool as the humans help Drac. The 118th party takes place with a super song of which the Drac Rap is the highlight. If you're unsure about this for your little ones, sit with them as when Drac gets angry he goes red and shows his fangs which made mine jump a little bit the first time but by the 2nd viewing, they just laughed. Highly recommended.

I watched this when it was released and it is easily one of my favourite children's films but my son had always been too young until now to watch it and he loves it. The film has been on a near constant loop on our DVD player for at least a week and thankfully with the release of Hotel Transylvania 2 my son is now happily obsessively watching that for a change! The film run time is approximately 1 hour 30 mins and this DVD is one disc. There are also special features on the disc:- Goodnight Mr Foot Mini Movie Problem (Monster Remix) music video and behind the scenes Deleted Scenes Filmmakers' commentary DVD-ROM link to fun games - Please note this does not work at all and takes you to a discontinued page on the Sony website and so it appears this feature link has been stopped by Sony I'm sure most people know the premise of the movie by now but it's basically about a hotel run for monsters only with no access to those terrible humans who hunt and persecute monsters. Dracula built Hotel Transylvania as a sanctuary for monsters after he lost his wife to a pitchfork wielding mob. Dracula's daughter Mavis is soon to turn 118 and so he has invited all of the monsters including his friends Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Invisible Man and The Werewolf to a special party for her. Unfortunately a human backpacker stumbles upon the hotel with hilarious consequences when Dracula has to hide his real identity from the other monsters to prevent an all out panic that there is a scary human in their sanctuary! The film is really funny and the storyline is brilliant and well thought out. Thankfully there aren't really any scary parts in the film and so this should be suitable for most children and my son and younger daughter both love watching this film.

ATTENZIONE la versione inglese ha solo inglese e spagnolo! comunque può essere utile per i bambini per imparare le lingue. il doppiaggio originale inglese è effettuato da personaggi famosi come adam sandler e selena gomez (i protagonisti del cartone) ci sono belle canzoni da cantare ma non è noioso come cartone, non è uno di quei cartoni dove cantano sempre, anzi è sobrio ma divertente.

.........." sie kriegt das schon hin- sie ist ein Dracula. Aber halt` dich vom Feuer fern,.......... das ist böse. " Wer kann dies wohlweislich behaupten? Richtig, das Monster, von Frankenstein erschaffen. Und das sieht hier voll lustig aus. Ebenso, wie sämtliche, animierte und zu neuem Leben erweckte Gruselgestalten. Im.................................GENAU!............. HOTEL TRANSSILVANIEN! Dieser Film macht einfach irre Spaß. Wobei ich tränenerstickend feststellte, dass die Fledermaus- Animationen fast schon unverschämt lustig dahergeflogen kommen. Keine Ahnung, ob ich diesen schrecklichschönen Monsterquatsch meinem Enkelchen mit blutjungen Sechs Jahren schon vorführen würde- neben bleichen Leichen, knarzigen Skeletten und einer auch sonst bunt gefächerten Horrorgesellschaft ist das Mädchen Mavis, dessen mittlerweile einhundertachtzehnter Birthday gefeiert wird, absolut liebenswert.......und Blut- wissensdurstig. HOTEL TRANSSILVANIEN schafft es tatsächlich, seinen unfassbar vielen Charakteren Tiefe zu verleihen. Kritikpunkte, dass an der Stelle, ab der Rucksack- Tourist Johnny- ein Mensch!!! auftaucht, der Film an Spannung verliert, möchten mir klipp und klar nicht einleuchten. Quatsch und Kokolores. Gerade dies ist doch ein Kernpunkt der Story. Graf Dracula und seine Sippschaft müssen sich diesem Blödmann( lustig gemeint! ) stellen. Und das ist abermals zum Tränen vergießen. In Sachen Lachen. " Ääähh....,...darf ich mal was fragen? Wo genau sind wir hier nun eigentlich..............? "...................... ******************************************************************************** ........Story!: " Wo wir hier genau sind? Dieses Refugium habe ich geschaffen........ für alle Monster, die sich in der Welt der Schatten aufhalten. Um sich vor den Angriffen der Menschen zu schützen- ein Ort, an dem sie und ihre Familien sich zurückziehen.... und sie selbst sein können. Ein Ort des Friedens.......der Entspannung. Ganz genau- ein Hotel für Monster! " Ganz genau! ********************************************************************************* Mein verbissen verliebtes Fazit: Genau! Und jawohl! ICH lachte echt Tränen. Szenen wie die mit den (nur ein kleiner Auszug!) Kontaktlinsen, oder der Sauna, oder den fliegenden Tischen, oder das Telefon.........oder,..... oder, oder, oder. Für alle fiesen Abklicker: Habt ihr DAS überhaupt gesehen? Definitiv ein toller Streifen, grandios die Animationen, grandiose Figuren. Superlustig synchronisiert- auch die Originalstimmen wie Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Steve Buscemi- alles toppi. HOTEL TRANSSILVANIEN- neben den -zig bemerkenswert kreativen Kreaturen ist der Koch Quasimodo mit seiner Ratte echt hammer. Ich hatte fast durchweg ein Grinsen, ein ziemlich breites sogar, im Gesicht. Alle Mitwirkenden im Grusel- Setting sind absolut gruftigputzig und total liebevoll überdreht gestaltet worden. Der Score, die Songs passen, steigern sich sogar noch in eine härtere Gangart. Die Gags sind gelungen und kindgerecht. Aber nicht kindisch oder kitschig. HOTEL TRANSSILVANIEN- wenn man auf kauzigkomische Monster und deren Gesichter, plus einer Prise Romantik, steht, macht man mit diesem Filmspaß garantiert nichts falsch. " Aristokotz? Kotza- Blanca? " Hihi! Und seid auf der Hut, Schreckhafte! Die Verwandlung Draculas in einen noch böseren Dracula... ist echt buu huu hu buuh...:-)) ! " Bohh, krass!
