BETTER than Coffee & Competitors!
So I stopped drinking coffee by the pot because I didn’t like the idea of withdrawal symptoms should I not be able to get a cup. Hey, zombie dat could happen...who can fight zombies with headaches, nausea, and flu-like symptoms? I suffered all three of these for 4 days while wiping out my coffee addiction. Now I strictly have ONE cup of coffee a day, sometimes I’ve missed a day because Pero is simply that great! So I can honestly rate this in comparison to coffee because coffee isn’t completely out of my life...I still know what it tastes like...here’s the PROS because seriously I’ve found ZERO cons yet...and I’ve been enjoying Pero for over a month now!1. It tastes EXTREMELY SIMILAR to coffee...minus the acidic taste, which can be high in coffee brands like Maxwell House or Folgers. The more “foo-foo” (as my hubby calls it) coffee brands aren’t as acidic to me, but PERO IS SMOOTH & DELICIOUS! You seriously will begin to favor it over coffee and wonder why you waited and hesitated to get Pero- DON’T!2. MIXES BEAUTIFULLY! I’ve had ZERO ISSUES mixing this with hot water! It gets only slightly frothy but after swooshing my spoon around, the froth is gone! If you like cold coffee, try fridging it after mixing and allowing it to cool a bit. It stays mixed and no particles settle out.3. BLEND IT! If you don’t want to go cold turkey on coffee but want to cut back on caffeine or the acid, pour 1/2 cup Pero to 1/2 cup coffee and enjoy! By 1/2 cup I mean eyeballing the levels in your mug....put your measuring cups away silly! It blends well with other coffee flavors meaning it complements them, not destroys them! These are my top 3 reasons for LOVING PERO! I spread the word to family & friends now looking to live healthier and kick the caffeine! The packaging is also great! The entire top lifts off so small scoops, large scoops, teaspoons, large spoons can fit inside! I think the VALUE IS GREAT! I got sooooo many cups of Pero in my first canister I lost track. I ALSO LOVE the fact you can simply take a teaspoon, add it to your cup, pour hot water over it, stir, and ENJOY! Simple to make...does NOT REQUIRE a coffee maker! No filters, no big mess, no big deal! Just toss your cup and spoon in the dishwasher when your done! So why are you still reading this? GO GET YOU SOME PERO NOW!

Not Postum - So much better!
I grew up drinking Postum and loved it. My family never drank coffee, but we drank a TON of Postum until they stopped making it. Then I hear that they are making it again and see the price. I love nostalgia and all, but not at the cost advertised! Then I came across Pero and my broken heart was mended. It is not the same - but it is so good that any difference is quickly forgotten and at a price per two-pack that is similar to the cost of one can of Postum...lets just say Postum is taking it pretty hard - it's not me, it's her.Pero has the dark roasted flavor you would expect and a slight bitter aftertaste that is the hall mark of good chicory beverages. With minimal doctoring it is a great drink cold or hot.I will only deviate from my otherwise glowing review of this excellent product by saying that the preparation instructions are a little on the weak side (for my taste). Instructions say to add a teaspoon of drink mix to the bottom of your mug and add enough water to fill. This makes it pretty weak. I have found that a tablespoon in the bottom is much stronger a flavor and makes it much more to my liking. The good thing is there is so much in the canister that you can play around and find out how you like it without feeling you are wasting it.

Love it. Great Coffee Substitute. I stopped drinking coffee becasue of Acid Reflux (Gerd). Glad I ordered this!
I thought I would die when I realized I just had to quit drinking coffee because of GERD. I tried low acidic coffee's first, but even they caused problems for me. I tried tea as a replacement in the morning, but it wasn't the same. Then I remembered my Grandmother drinking Pero years ago, and I gave it a try. I LOVE IT. It doesn't taste "exactly" like coffee, but it is VERY close - close enough that I don't crave the taste of coffee anymore. It satisfies. And I treat it just like I did my coffee - adding stevia, a dab of creamer, and on special occasions a dollop of whipped cream. It also has a recipe on the can for iced latte's that I cannot wait to try. Now the only thing I miss about coffee is the smell of it percolating each morning.I AM SO GLAD I FOUND THIS because as much as I love coffee it just wasn't worth the acid reflux I would suffer all day long. The primary ingredient in Pero is Barley - which has gluten, and being sensitive to gluten I was worried at first. But, after using for some time I notice it doesn't bother me at all in this product. YEA!

Good coffee substitute
I'm unable to drink caffeine, as I get incredible headaches after a day or two. This is the closest thing I can find. I suggest doing it like a cafe au lait. I mix half milk, half water and then add the Pero. It's a pretty satisfying start to the day.

How to create an espresso-like crema with Pero
As with most of these coffee substitute products, it is often desirable to mix it a little stronger than the recommendation, for a bit more body - but not too much because it will ruin the taste. I use a heaping teaspoon (not the measuring kind) per cup of water. Here's a tip on how to produce a lovely and tasty crema on your Pero - just like an espresso. Add your Pero to room-temperature water and mix. It will not mix in completely, but that's OK. Put it in the microwave for your desired temperature and voila! Just give it a little stir and you will have a nice crema swirl on top that actually tastes like expresso!

Did your doc say "caffeine-free"? Here's the answer!
Some may recall drinking this in the 70s era. When my doc said no more caffeine, I tried all kinds of fancy brews and none satisfied like Pero. I remembered Pero but didn't recall having seen it in the past couple decades, so looked on Amazon - and behold! Here it is, slightly more pricey, but the same comforting drink I depended on every morning. I have since told three other people about it and they also say it's the closest thing they've ever experienced to that beloved cuppa joe. Made completely from grains and a little chicory, it's good for you and is well suited to milk and whatever you like to put in coffee.
