This is the best chefs knife I have ever used! I cook a lot and use this knife daily for pretty much everything. People who come over and try it are very impressed. I now buy it for family and relatives who also love this knife! I have been using it about 6 years and still going strong with regular sharpening and good maintenance. I never put it in the dishwasher. It is super sharp so be careful! It is definitely my go to knife! Only downside is food does stick to it. It's not a big deal for me, i just wipe it off. There's nothing more important in the kitchen than a good sharp knife that actually works. Does wonders!

I was looking forward to using the new Shimomura Verdun Chef Knife, but I received Shimomura NEO Verdun Middle Santoku Knife instead. It was not the knife I ordered. The white label with bar code on the outside of the package said Chef Knife, but the product description on the package said Middle Santoku (in Japanese). The white label was mislabeled. I was very disappointed that I didn't receive what I ordered. I returned it the same day.

this is a very sharp knife made of pretty decent steel, but food sticks to it which can be irritating when you are cutting squash. For the same price I think that you can do better in terms of Japanese knives.

This is the best-seller cooking knife at Amazon Japan. So you can't go wrong with it. It's about $14 ($27 originally) in Japan but this is still a good price for the quality you get.
