Great for Jewish preschools!
The term "Boker Tov" means "Good Morning" in Hebrew. Boker Tov is a lovely preschool story with an accompanied CD that is sung by Rabbi Joe Black on guitar. The story, written in rhyme is in easy readable print for emergent readers. This sweet story shows children from all ethnic backgrounds waking up and greeting the day with smiles on their faces. The author shows children with positive spirits, thanking God for food, the earth, the sunshine and the surprise of each new morning. The brightly colored illustrations, done in acrylic paint, depict children going to school and being with friends. While this is not an educational resource for teachers, it is rather a wonderful read-along story with a very catchy tune that is easy to hum along to. The story illustrates daily morning routines that preschoolers can easily relate to. The children come from all ethnic backgrounds doing all sorts of things like brushing their teeth, eating breakfast, getting dressed, and going to school. The theme of starting fresh each new day with a positive attitude really overshadows the theme of morning prayers in this story. While Boker Tov does not introduce morning prayers, it does try to express a positive attitude about starting new each day and being thankful. The author, Rabbi Joe Black is a congregational Rabbi, singer, songwriter and guitarist who is celebrated throughout many Jewish communities in the United States, Canada and Israel. This is a great book to have in a Jewish preschool.

Boker Tov???????
My daughter purchases this for her baby Trevor. Oh how the two to them love this book. Many times he would just bring it over to her, over his 200 other books, for her to read to him. Now I have to admit that I am of the Jewish faith and did not know what Boker Tov meant. I would say to Trevor, oh what a good boy that Boker is and sooo happy. My daughter straightened me out immediately. So when i visit them in the morning I now say "Boker Tov" (when I remember). I feel so good that my daughter b ought this book for her baby because he really, really loves it. Grandma doesn't always know BEST. grandma

Very sweet book
This book was purchased for my grandchildren. It is a cute book and the CD that comes with it is short but a very cute song. Regarding the CD If you download the song to your itunes, you can create a CD where it replays over and over again as children love repetition. The CD can be put on "repeat" in my car's CD, but not on my CD player at home. It was a great addition to my grandchildren's jewish library of books. Purchased for our grandchildren. The oldest one likes reading it to his younger siblings and cousins when they are here.

Stories for Children Magazine 5 Star Review
Reviewed by: Wayne WalkerHave you ever heard the expression "mazel tov"? It means "good fortune." Can you guess what "boker tov" means? It means "good morning." Joe Black is a congregational Rabbi, singer, songwriter, and guitarist whose infectious music for children and adults is sung in Jewish communities all over the United States, Canada, and Israel. In this children's picture book, his 1998 song "Boker Tov!" about children arising to a new morning, from the CD Everybody's Got a Little Music, is playfully illustrated by Rick Brown. All babies and toddlers, whether Jewish or otherwise, deserve to wake up in a pleasant environment. This CD will fill kids with enthusiasm through the buoyant cheerfulness of this poetic text that depicts morning routines that relate to preschoolers, such as getting dressed, eating breakfast, and going to school. As a bonus feature, a CD of "Boker Tov!" recorded by the author himself is included. And many of us gain a new phrase that we can use when we get up. Boker tov!

Boker Tov! Good Morning!
Joe Black's delightful new book encourages young children to get their day started. Who could resist an exhortation to get "Out of your jammies and into your clothes/Boker tov!" The text gently reminds children to thank G-d for their food, the earth beneath their feet, and the morning sunshine, and the refrain of "Boker tov!" lets even very young listeners chime in as someone else reads to them. The smiley children in Rick Brown's charming illustrations wake up, get dressed, brush teeth, eat breakfast (note the dangling feet of the boy sitting in an adult-sized chair), and go to school. The accompanying CD sets the text to music, with a catchy tune interspersed with Black convincing a child to get moving. Black's infectious enthusiasm will likely inspire new morning traditions in many families. Ages 2 - 5. Marci Lavine Bloch

Perfect Book For Anyone Who Is Not a Morning Person!
This is an adorable book with a great CD. The book is perfect for preschoolers, elementary-school children, and adults who do not like waking up in the morning. The book gives examples of things for which to be thankful. Both the boy and dog enjoy eating their breakfast, the kids have fun getting dressed, and they all jump on the bus. The book includes pictures of ethnically and physically diverse children and show that everyone can find something in the morning to enjoy.
