Correction
One factual error. Sam Neville was not employed by the M&B in 1943. It was his oldest son, my father George M. Neville. In 1927 my father quit Washington & Lee University in his senior year to become the youngest railroad President in America. After the M&B went bust he remained as an employee booking freight until shortly before his death in 1945. The Nevilles were forced to divest any ownership in property related to the RR under threat of suit. They were only offered script allowing them to purchase stock in the reorganized RR but there was no money to do this. The only thing of value that remained was a lifetime pass on the railroad system given to my mother, Margaret Hulett Neville as the widow of a railroad President.

Amazing history of Meridian's railroads
This book is by far the most comprehensive work to date on the history of the railroad industry in Meridian Mississippi. this book is very well researched, with many details explained in ways that would be otherwise lost in time, the illustrations are specific to the subject matter and the heavy use of J. Parker Lamb's photos are an asset as the quality of his work can't be beat for the eras represented. This book is a must read for anyone interested in the history of Meridian, MS or the railroads of the region. As the Director of the Meridian Railroad Museum I highly recommend this book for ever railfan and history buff.
