Product Description United masters 1951-53. Review The early 1950s found Forrest, a big-toned tenor saxophonist recently departed from the Duke Ellington Orchestra, waxing sides for a pop market clamoring after robust and sensual sounds. Melding two Ellington songs, he came up with the jukebox staple "Night Train," included here with sixteen more R&B tunes that pleasingly evidence his affinity for blues and jazz. -- © Frank John Hadley 1993 -- From Grove Press Guide to Blues on CD

Greatest Sound of a Tenor Saxophone Player Ever
As a teenager, I use to hear the song Night Train as the theme for a radio request show. As an Adult, I grew to really like the sound of his tenor saxophone. I have many of his albums and bought this one as a gift for my wife's cousin in England.

All Aboard the 'Night Train'!
This is a collection of early-mid fifties instrumental sides by the great Jimmy Forrest. These recordings bridge the gap between jazz and rhythm and blues. Featured is the original R & B 1952 hit "Night Train." Forrest played a cool saxophone and you don't want to miss the way he wails on this CD!

Fabulous example of a Jazz Standard for those in the know
I have listened to Jazz since I was a teen and have heard many of the tunes on Night Train as the background for many of the Jazz DJ's but never owned the piece. This CD took me back to those times when I discovered many of the standards. The music on this CD is timeless!

Not exactly
I really would have liked a better rendition, but since this was the only thing available, it's ok. I am still waiting for Harlem Nocturne to be found. The 50's music I cherish.

Rock-n-Roll Lives!
I'm old enough to remember when this was on the top of the charts. Great music and a great vender.

Night Train by Jimmy Forrest
I was a little disappointed. Not as good as the last Jimmy Forrest CD purchased.
