The Phantom of the Opera - piano vocal Selections Piano, Vocal and Guitar Chords

The Best version I could have Hoped for! If you love the movie to death, like I do, get it! Don't hesitate!
This music book is amazing. I bought it used, and the person changed a few lyrics for Think of Me to the original lyrics from the Broadway version. I thought that was neat.Anyway, the pictures are crisp, the arrangements are excellent for any singer or group of people who want to perform Phantom for something like... maybe... say, a talent show, exhibit, etc. I'd like to add that the lyrics are all here in the book, and it is by-the-book (or in this case, by the 2004 movie adaption of Phantom) for everything, including order of songs listed. I had great fun taking a stab at singing "Think of Me", then "Angel of Music" all while playing the accompaniment. And "The Phantom of the Opera". Just. Wow. Perfect arrangement and complements both singers' (a Christine and "Phantom") beautifully. I almost wished Gerard Butler was there to sing with me, lol.Buy this book, you won't be disappointed. Especially if you are starting out with musical theatre or want to learn to sing in the first place. The melodies are listed for all characters' voice parts with the accompaniment at the bottom. It is beautifully designed and well put together. It's basically every song in the movie plus the interludes of "The Fairground" etc. to carry into the next pieces. I can't wait to keep practicing and improve my singing ability. Just how Christine reached the heights of her ability while singing with the "Phantom" in the "p. of the Opera" musical piece. Get yourself a parter to sing along with you! (Namely a "Meg" or a "Phantom") and you'll have great fun performing. I know I definitely will.Good luck in your endeavor!-m. croft

An Improved Arrangement of ALW's Music.
I'm a huge Webber fan and was playing music book collections of his music back when I was 13. Well, when the movie came out, I took a chance that the sheet music will have improved from his earlier collection and it indeed had! The songs are richer plus all of the major songs are available. "Angel of Music", "MotN", and "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" are probably the most beautiful. As for my meager complaints.. I still await a really complex release of these songs. I only found myself struggling with one song in the first day that I got the book. The biggest complaint I have in reference to this is the simplistic left hand. In the old and newer arrangements of these songs, the left hand often has to resort to lazily hitting one note. I know something more complicated could have been done with the left hand. But then... if you are advanced enough to complain about the difficulty of this book, you should be advanced enough to ad-lib in your own improvements to the music. And, really, even John Williams' arrangements are at this level of difficulty, so I may be hoping for arrangements that are rarely released by any movie/musical composer. So aside from those small complaints, the music is just beautiful in this book... the way you play them has a flow that reminds the player of how it is sung, entrancing. I highly suggest it to piano-playing fans of PotO.

The Real Deal
SCORE: This is the first "movie book" I've played that doesn't have easier versions of the music, and I absolutely love it. It IS a challenge playing the original versions because you are dealing with key changes, but A) that is what makes the music sound so fantastic and not monotonous and B) it is a good music challenge for any piano player.BOOK: Full color pages from the movie in the front look awesome sitting open on your piano stand, and are inspiring. Also, binding issues with various books can be frustrating. This book has a PERFECT binding, meaning I don't have to pause a million times to forcefully flatten and strong-arm the pages to stay open. :)BAD REVIEWS: Before I bought this, I read the critical reviews stating that the left hand wasn't challenging enough.I am wondering if these people are perhaps playing on keyboards instead of real pianos? I had to endure keyboards for the last seven years since graduating college with a music degree, and 2 months ago, due to moving to a house, I FINALLY got an old, refurbished, upright piano.....and the reason the piano is so beautiful is because of its extraordinary sensitivity to human touch. Meaning that good music does not equal quantity of notes played, it means melody and quality of notes played. A LOT of feeling can come out of one note :)

Great
I like the content of this book. Just like the preview, both the vocal scores and the piano scores, as well as the chords are included. They are of multiple uses for me.Some might say the left hand is simple. This is a great feature. Combining the vocal and the left hand creates the easy piano version, which helps me make fast progress when I have no time to practice.I am also trying to learn adapting and enriching melodies for pianos. Thus I do learn something from comparing the right hand scores and the vocal scores. The chords also provide convenience. This book seems to be the original version of the piano music from the phantom of the opera. The difficulty level is friendly to adult beginners after learning for 1 year or 2.

Great songs
I love this book and all the songs in it! They're so much fun to play and sing. I just wish it was bound differently so the book would stay open more easily.

Good difficulty, well composed
I go between playing the entire book and watching the 25th anniversary show. I can hear the performers in my head as I play. The composition is great: there is plenty of melody while also covering the main themes from the full orchestra. I'm a good site reader and could play through each piece well enough (obviously not perfectly) and was able to master the pieces after some practice. The difficulty level is perfect for me: I took formal lessons throughout my childhood and now play for fun often.

Consiglio vivamente!

Great for Phans, with lovely pictures and easy to follow music!
Arrived in very nice time, and I like the way that the chords are written above the actual notes so you can give yourself a bit of a head start if you want, or to male it easier/harder for your level. Amazing pictures, and really lovely chronological layout as the songs appear in the film, which makes it really easy to find things! My only issue is that the spine broke quite soon after I started using it. However this may just be because I was using it a lot. I’m not really sure on that? But anyway, overall the book is lovely and would make a great gift or present, whether it’s to yourself or someone else. Definately would recommend, and I’ll safely say that it is a great idea for a Phan! (for those who don’t know - a Fan of Phantom) :)

Petfect
Perfect for a piano, not complicated, it would work for a beginner (to play notes, not singing 😁).
