Exceptional Thickener
This product is great for thickening any sauce or dish.My girlfriend uses this to make the most amazing lemon meringue pies. Compared to corn starch or other traditional thickeners, this stuff is easier to use, tastes better, and apparently it is also healthier. With this Kuzu there is no "chalky" texture like you get with some other thickeners, it's very smooth. The price is a bit high, but I would say the results are worth it.All around excellent product.

great product
This is an excellent thickener and makes great pudding. It is expensive but with this "bulk" 4-pak order is cheaper than elsewhere. It is also recommended for health benefits-- can't testify to this tho.

Try using it in a shaker
The only reason it doesn't get five stars is because of the price! Other reviewers have pretty much said it all when it comes to Kuzu as an alternative to cornstarch and arrowroot.I just wanted to chime in and share how wok star Eleanor Hoh taught me to just store the thickeners for wok cooking in a dreft and to just shake it into my wok at the crucial point of time (easier and less messy than mixing it in water.) After searching on Amazon, I chose a combo of three 10 oz Winware stainless dredges with a handle here on Amazon. I keep arrowroot and organic cornstarch in the other ones. It makes Asian wok cooking a little simpler.

Great to strengthen and heal intestinal weaknesses
Great product for IBS and healing weak intestinal walls. Was introduced to Kuzu when adhering to macrobiotic principles many years ago. This item has maintained it's place in my kitchen + wellness cabinet. Great in a diluted apple or pear drink to calm intestines, support healing and clear constipation. Also great for gravies and sauces, puddings, too. Expensive. But worth the investment for it's vast uses and benefits.

Your healthy cornstarch replacement
Excellent healthy cornstarch replacement. Just powder it, I use my coffee grinder, and store it in an airtight jar.

Kuzu needs to be thicker again.
I really like Kuzu for thickening food but mostly I use it as a digestive aid. I like to make Ume Sho Kuzu which is an old Japanese remedy for acid reflux. The Kuzu I need thickens very well so that the drink is almost like a cold gelatin except it is taken warm.Lately the Kuzu, even from Eden foods is not making the drink thick enough to combat my acid reflux. I like this company very much as they have good products but they really need to look at the Kuzu plants they are growing or the refinery where they are processed to get that good quality thickness again.
