Not the same eating experience as Whole wild rice .
Alas I looked at the pic which shows Whole rice and failed to read the label & reviews about cracked .I'm not sure who is giving this good stars but this is like getting 'cracked potato chips ' / a bunch of tiny pieces at the bottom of the bag .The answer which said this was the "same as whole" is FALSE . The nutrition may be the same but you can Not equate the crumbs at the bottom of the chip bag to the whole chips , it is NOT the same eating experience .This ends up with a consistency more like quinoa or amaranth .Additionally , you also end up with what seems like sand / hard debris in the dish .I'm not sure if some pieces just don't get cooked or it's actual sand but it's bad for your teeth when chewing .

Great Wild Rice
After buying Gourmet House Wild Rice a couple times, we went ahead and bought 60 pounds of it in one lump when it was on sale. It is not as good as our previous wild rice, but we buy wild rice in large quantities because we eat it several times per week. For wild rice of this quality, under $4 per pound in 2014 is a great price.Edit May 2019: I have purchased over 150 pounds of this over the last decade. It is fantastic. We eat wild rice daily. It is an amazing food/nutrition source. The price has jumped by 30% in the last year, so I'm less excited about this cracked wild rice, but for me, the cracked wild rice is better than whole wild rice, which just seems like a strange affectation. This product is in the top 1% of available Minnesota-type dark-brown/black wild rice varieties. Thanks.

Misleading Advertising
Warning: this is CRACKED wild rice which means it's the broken pieces left over from processing. It's considered lower grade than whole grains and I don't think it tastes as good. (It does however cook faster.) I'm going to return it to protest the misleading advertising. They don't use the word "cracked" anywhere on their page. It appears only in the photo which is easy to miss and of course in most of the reviews by other customers who were unpleasantly surprised just like I was.The way I came to buy this item was by first reading the reviews for their other product which is " Gourmet House Wild Rice, 16-Ounce (Pack of 4) ". That one is whole rice, not cracked, and based on those reviews I decided I wanted to buy it. Then right next to the listing for that one I saw the listing for this item with exactly the same title, just in a larger amount: " Gourmet House Wild Rice, 16-Ounce (Pack of 6) " But it's not identical. It's cracked rice, not whole rice, even though it too is described simply as "Gourmet House Wild Rice". I declare shenanigans.Update: it turns out this item is not returnable but Amazon still refunded most of my money and just let me keep the rice. This is what you expect from Amazon because they're very committed to keeping their customers happy. If they decide to update the title of this item to included the word "cracked" so it can be distinguished from the whole rice listings, I'll change my rating to five stars because there's nothing wrong with it if you know what you're getting.

decent price,
I have been buying GH wild rice for several years, but they offer 2 products, one requiring shipping charges. This one does not. but the "wholeness" of the grains is markedly different from the other product, sold in bottles. Taste is fine and it's OK for family use. Might not take it to potlucks and definitely not for use if you are trying to impress your future mother-in-law, since the incompleteness of the grains is obvious.I'll probably buy again, but pay the shipping if it's for a party.

This is my favorite rice, and the brand is also very good. I have used the non cracked wild rice before, so decided to give cracked a try. Same quality. 8-9 ounces in store would cost about 8$.This is good for rice salads and soups. Since it is cracked, it does not take as long to cook. I boil it until it is done, pour out the water, then cook the rice a bit more to get rid of excess moisture. It gives the rice a bit of crunch. For the price, this is a killer deal.

Great wild rice!
Amazon had a great price for many bags on subscribe and save. . so I used my Amazon Prime! I have been paying outrageous prices local for wild rice! I bought pounds of this and have used my vacuum kitchen sealer bags and freeze it. It taste great and the quality is excellent. I was just a little disappointed that it is small grain and not large grained. So, remember that when ordering! I also purchased pounds of the organic long grain because I like the long rain wild rice better for wild rice cream of chicken soup!

Wild Rice at an affordable price
We love wild rice, and enjoy the nutty and unique taste it adds to the recipes we use it in.Some folks have complained about the fact that this is not the whole grain, but rather cracked. First, it is clearly described as "cracked" and not "whole grain". Next the taste is not affected in the least by being cracked, and in fact, cooks a little fasterAnd, given the GREAT price for this 6 pack, you can't go wrong at all, if you know what you are buying.Highly recommended.

Good price
We love wild rice and this was well priced. It is the broken stuff, but it does cook more quickly that way. I ordered this and basmati rice, so I got free shipping. That made the price even better!
