American Specialty MRT-50 50' Marine Handi-Hose & Reel

I use this to wash my car and I find it strong, convenient and about the best small portable hose I've ever used.You need to unwind the full length of the hose in order to use it, so be sure you really want 50'. It just takes a few moments, but it's not like the type of hose you can use while it stays on the reel. In my case, I put some quick connect hardware on it so that I can attach it to the water supply in just a few seconds without worrying whether it's tight enough not to leak.The hose itself is an interesting material...sort of the feel of Tyvek or some high-tech paper more than anything. If it folds, it definitely kinks and chokes off the water supply, but moving it around is usually all it takes to get the kinks out. I use a few different attachments on the hose, and all of them work well.When you're done, you disconnect the hose and wind it back onto the reel. Assuming you have the space to lay it out in a fairly straight line (so it doesn't get folded and kinked while winding), it just takes a few minutes to get the hose back on the reel. Best of all, as you wind the hose onto the reel, all of the water is being pushed out - by the time you put it away, it's almost completely dry. To me, this is definitely one of the big advantages - no puddles under the hose when you put it away.Overall, I find it to be a good buy for the price...definitely recommended.

We purchased this hose for use in our RV and the first time it was hooked up to the water it sprung several leaks and is unusable. Since we didn't take our RV out for a few weeks it is not returnable. This hose is horrible, don't buy.

Purchased this hose in June 2012. Already leaking (hole in hose). Hose kinks must be used straight out or loses pressure.

Bought to fill fresh water holding tank in travel trailer, takes up little space and easy to unwind and wind up for me and its made in the U.S.A. Which is why I bought it in the first place.

This is the best RV and general hose I have ever owned. I purchased this hose for its compact storage. I used it is to wash the 7th floor windows in my condo. I bought standard kitchen faucet adapters (faucet to hose), a shut off valve on male hose end and it worked perfectly. No drips. When using the hose be sure to lay out hose so there are no kinks. Rewinding hose into case is exceptionally easy. Without reservation I recommend this product and company.

I was hoping these would work for my RV but it just didn't work out as both started leaking. Guess this hose is just not made to carry water.

I am one of those people who wash their car even in the cold of winter. (above 32 degrees) If you have ever tried to roll up a hose in cold weather you can appreciate the American Specialty Manufacturing Company's handy hose reel. I am a firm supporter of products manufactured in the United States. This hose works well for me.

Unit looks fine, had item before and it lasted on the boat a number of years. I cannot see any difference between the marine and the regular garden variety though.
