Abbaye de Flavigny Oval Traditional Tin Violet Flavored Anise drops all natural, 1.8 oz, Three

I am so in LOVE with the Les Anis de Flavigny brand (and the old fashioned tins)! I started with the original Anise flavored, and loved them so much that I branched out into these Violet drops and Rose drops as well. The Violet drops have a strong kind of lavender bite, but much more than that. So rich and only 5 calories a drop versus the 10 calorie less flavored tic tac. I keep a tin in my bag, pocket and purse. They're just the perfect drops to pop in your mouth at any time needed, and two does the job for me. I'm satisfied, and so far have bought 10 tins of each flavor!!!

These are quite different from the C Howard's violet mints I've eaten before, in many ways. The taste was subtler and sweeter, and the candy itself was letter made, as to be expected from a product like this. For those of you that don't know how these are made, they are Anise seeds(delicious seeds, somewhat similar to fennel) rolled in sugar and violet extract to create a pearl-like ball of sugar with anise flavor at its center. Takes some getting used to, having an actual seed in the middle of a candy. The main complaint I have with these is the aftertaste - the C Howards violet mints may have tasted slightly soapy and perfumey, but they leave you with a wonderful aftertaste that sweetens the breath for a while after. These left me with the slightly unpleasant feeling that I had just eaten a flower, stem and all. Still, they have a delicious, very purple taste. Also, shipping was excellent, they came 2 days before the stated arrival time and were packaged well. The tin they come in is also quite nice.

I have been purchasing Flavigny's Violet Pastilles for more than 30 years. They are hard to find, so I'm glad I could find them online. Whenever I come across them, I always get some for my brother and now for both my sons. I take them to work with me and when I offer them to co-workers, they always ask me where I get them! A nice conversation starter and friend maker.

What a wonderful memory! At least 25 years ago my grandmother used to get these for me in France, and I never forgot the taste. I would savor each tin, making them last. Now that I can buy them here, lookout! The taste is reminiscent of flowers with the tiny anise seed in the center. Some of my family says that they taste "soapy", but I love it!

Tastes like violets, not what I wanted, my friends liked them

The anise and violet flavors in these candies is very subtle, but unmistakably anise and violet. They also are not very sugary, which is very good. If you are looking for something sweeter and less subtly violet, I recommend C. Howard Violet Candies, 15 Mints (Pack of 24), also sold on Amazon. I like both.

I've been sucking on these for years and find them to be highly addictive. I always keep a tin in my bag so that I always have them on me. The taste is very distinctive, so it's not for everyone, but they're definitely worth a shot. I have a thing for violet and anise flavors, so for me, they're perfect.

My Mom had these when I was a kid so bought them for her a memory and she loved them. Her Mom had them also.
