Easy to do and keeps attic heat in the attic
We have pull down stairs to the attic and our air return is directly underneath them. Every time the air would come on it would suck down hot attic air from around the stair cover. I never really noticed this until we got blown in insulation added to our attic. When we did this we noticed the peculiar smell of the insulation every time the air came on. I ordered this product because it was thicker and heavier than the other similar products. When it came they included a picture of the cover as installed and some very easy instructions. You will need a heavy duty stapler like they use for upholstery and some 1/2 inch staples. I could not find my staples so I put the cover in place using about 20 pieces of duct tape. That took about 15 minutes, but only because it was so hot. When i got some staples for my stapler it only took about 5 minutes to put in about 100 staples to secure it. The install was super easy and you never even have to go into the attic to do it, just stand on the ladder the whole time. Now the air conditioner seems to come on a lot less often and no more smell from the attic. Hopefully the electric bills will be smaller too.

Really surprised that this actually worked!
I have attic fold down stairs in my master bedroom walk in closet. We purchased the house and the insulation they had was a hard cover over the stairs made of 2" R-6 foam pulled down tight over the opening. For some reason this closet has no vent in it, so no AC/heat and the room would always be freezing in the winter, or sweltering in the summer, even installing a louvered door didn't help. I picked this up for the heck of it, I honestly didn't think it would make much of a difference. Installed it with staples every few inches, but no tape yet. The difference is dramatic, the closet is now almost the same temp as the rest of the house. I haven't tested with a thermometer, but seat of the pants they feel pretty close. My concerns would be longevity, especially if you use your attic a lot. It's very flimsy, and it's boxed in so you have to step over it, or crawl over it in the case of my attic, and I can see crawling over it will lead to wear and tear. The zipper also feels very very flimsy. But in all honesty if I have to buy one of these every 4 or 5 years that's ok, I'm sure the utilities savings will be much more than that. If I get spare time I might consider building a hard "wall" around it so it's better protected.

Keeps the heat out, fits well, and has a good zipper
Living in Texas the summers can be pretty brutal, there have been times where Ive had to work in the attic to do HVAC repairs or run wiring where I felt I would pass out because it was so hot. This same heat slowly permeates to the inside of your house, the point of insulation (in walls or on top of the ceiling) is to reduce this exchange of heat. Unfortunately the attic stairs area just has a thin layer of wood to slow this heat exchange down and doesn't do that great of a job. Although can't verify the R-value of this insulation cover, I can confirm that there is a very noticeable difference in the amount of heat I feel on the attic stairs door. Before adding the cover I could feel the heat, now the attic door feels identical to the ceiling (cold from the conditioned air). The main thing to look our for these type of covers is the zipper, some covers will use a cheap zipper that gets stuck or the teeth mess up, since installing the cover I've gone over a dozen times in to the attic and have not had any zipper related issues. The cover is also pretty stiff and stays up, I've seen some covers that are really thin and don't retain a box shape. Installation is straightforward but does take a bit of time. You can use a simple staple or nail gun but I recommend using a battery powered brad nailer (Ryobi AirStrike for example), this made the job much faster and the cover is held on securely.

Works Incredibly Well, and Easy to Install
Product works incredibly well, and the installation was easy. The only real work on my part was realizing that the builder of my house had installed the ladder and frame to my attic with long nails and no shims, so I ended up cutting some wood blocks and adding in additional long wood screws to further secure the frame to the rafters. I then used some 1x6 boards to make the opening the appropriate size for the insulation cover so that it would fit properly and provide a good fit. After that, installation was a breeze. I used a staple gun and placed staples about every 2 - 3 inches along the bottom of the cover. How do I know that it works well? The temperature in my garage went up a few degrees. Apparently, my garage was venting heat up and through my drafty attic door, even with it closed. That being said, the temperature swings have stabilized, which should mean that come winter time, the garage should stay warmer and lose less heat.I can also feel a difference when I pull the ladder down and stick my head and body up in to the cover before unzipping it. It definitely feels cooler, and it measures as being cooler when I used a IR Thermometer to measure the temperature difference between the pre and post cover installation.I liked this product enough that I have recommended it to a few friends who are in similar situations and needing a way to insulate their attic pull-down stairs.

makes a difference
Easy to install and probably will recoup money within a year by improving tightness between home and attic.

works but not great
It definitely does something but I still measure the entrance significantly hotter than surrounding area. The R value is not so great. I have to go to lowes and buy the rigid form to create a box around it.

Attic Stairs Insulation Cover
Installation was not to bad, I cannot really tell on insulation factor but it does slow/stop air movement from house to attic once its taped in place after stapling. The corners are not the most rigid since they have no stitching or reinforcement but a few layers of 3m tape cured that.

Legit!!!
Surprisingly this product is legit! This product helped prevent a lot of unnecessary heat enter into the room. It was an immediate notice. I even unzipped it to test it and that was a bad idea, it felt like the devil slapped me in the face for letting cold air into the attic.
