Simple and clear tweaking of 12 Steps from AA for atheists!!!
Nine months ago I was stuck. I quit drinking and really needed help and support but I could not figure out how I, an atheist, could work the program without being religious and without believing in God. Vince Hawkins solved my problems for me with his clear, rational approach of just how to make the program work. It really is genius. There was no need to re-invent the wheel-this had been thought out in a very rational way that made complete sense to me. I have since purchased three more copies and given them to friends who have atheist friends that could not figure out how to work the program as it stands. I am not a reviewer but I made an exception with this book because people need to know how great it is to be in AA and fully supported while being an atheist. Do yourself a favor-order this book now and make your life easier.

Great reference for agnostics and atheists in recovery
I lead an agnostic/atheist AA group and have found this book to be a great source of discussion topics. It is well-organized and easy to read. It has excellent advice on how to work the program without having to believe that "God" or a supernatural "Higher Power" is the only route to recovery.

Ideal for newcomers to AA put off by the god stuff
As an agnostic I was appalled by all the god mentions when I arrived at AA. Here is the book that puts all these demons to rest and shows that non-believers can be spiritual, too, and choose a higher power that is simply bigger than them. It will make an ideal study aid for clinics and meetings that want their program non-religious, but find that AA doesn't deliver in this respect

Superb
I wish this book had been available when I got sober. It would have made the AA program much more palatable. I recommend for all young non-believers and doubters when they get sober. Could very well save lives.

This book is an adjunct to already existing texts, ...
This book is an adjunct to already existing texts, and does not claim to replace them. a helpful book for people alienated by the 'godness' of AA. There is a strong subjective element to this book, but this is in the spirit of AA. You share your experience rather than give advice.

At last - someone who knows what they are talking about!
I had been unaware that such material had been written, and feel it was badly needed. With many years of being an agnostic/atheist in the program, I would have loved to have something like this available when I first started.
