More than it seems...
Getting it out the box presented issues but I managed it - eventually. It is actually a good portable speaker. It can output quite a volume or be quite detailed at lower volumes. Bass is not too present but enough so. Using it about the house and garden is quite nice.There's a black card with some 5-point font-size instructions on it and a pdf file on the braven.com site. To connect via Bluetooth depress the phone button until you hear a noise from the speaker, then press your device's Bluetooth button.

Fails on low bass
I am listening to a range of music on the Braven 625s as I write. Any song with deep bass is causing crackling and the sound breaks down. Works fine for anything else but volume output is limited.I had heard from a friend that it is possible to reset and that can deal with the bass issue but I think he must be talking about another model.

Braven 625S portable bluetooth speaker.
This product is a really well made unit & I thoughtful in design, sound quality is excellent & the rubber caseing is a real bonus as is the yellow waterproof bag they supply with the unit. All in all a well made unit very pleased with it.

Very good sound! It arrived very soon, too! The parcel took care of the speaker all the way to Norway.

Good but not quite the best
I was interested to get my hands on this device. This was however tempered by the fact it has the most difficult packaging to open I have encountered in a while. However once opened the device pretty much worked out of the box. It appears to be really well made and very robust so it is suited to outdoor use.The device comes with a bright yellow strong plastic carry case which appears to be fairly waterproof but probably does not give protection to heavy knocks or drops.There is also various connection leads and an LED light attachment supplied with it.Like the adverts say is does pretty much what it says. I have only used it for music playing so far so cannot comment on it for hands free or video calls.It also appears to act as a charging unit for portable devices which is useful.To connect the device it is first switched on. A rather horrid sound confirms this process, and incidentally, the same sound occurs when you switch it off. I must admit to finding this feature really annoying as it is quite audible.I connected to an iphone fairy easily. The device has a button to press to start the search process and then everything is easy after that.First impressions of the sound was that it is a little tinny and to be honest not that loud. It would be able to fill a small room but nothing bigger. The sound is a little base light to my ears and while vocals are clear there is not really any real "oomph" to the sound and is best suited to simple vocal and instrumental music and not to dance music or music with a strong base lead. Another annoying feature is an intermittent flashing blue light that comes out the box when plugged in and being used. This cannot be turned off.I had the opportunity to directly compare this product with the much cheaper Logitech Mini Wireless Boombox.Although this device acts only as a music player, I think most people would be using a device like this for such a purpose.I have to say the Logitec really sounded considerably better and goes louder than the Braven without distortion; considering the price difference this is quite surprising. It may not be quite as robust as the Braven but is equally as portable. I much preferred the deeper base from the Logitec.Given the comparison, and the high cost of the Braven I am only able to award it 3 stars. If you think the extra features are worth spending more on it may be more suited for you.

Beats the Jambox
I reviewed the Braven 650 and preferred it to the Jambox, with terrific sound overall and some nice features. See that review for more detail.The benefit of the 625S over the 650 is ruggedisation. The 625S is rubber-coated, except the perforated metal front/rear grilles. It comes with a vivid yellow dry-bag to make it weather-resistant while still sounding good, but the bag isn't waterPROOF so you wouldn't want to take it for a swim! Out of the bag, it won't like rain but will withstand fairly severe knocks to the top, bottom and sides.Unlike the 650, the 625S has a wrist-strap and small LED torch to plug into the USB-out port.On the down-side, playback time is reduced from 20 to 16 hours and there's no Bluetooth aptX support. Lack of aptX is no big deal for most users, especially while only Galaxy and HTC One seem to support it.Other features are very similar - controls, speakerphone, etc. - and sound quality seems identical, ignoring aptX.If you're just going to use it indoors, go for the 650, but the 625S is the winner if portability is important, especially for use outdoors. There's room for improvement - the control buttons are poor and there's no remote control to compensate (hence one star dropped) - but both of them beat the Jambox, as far as I'm concerned.

Buen producto
Estos altavoces realmente tienen una gran calidad de acabado y son bastante buenos. Obviamente no se pueden comparar con un equipo de alta fidelidad pero cumplen lo que promete. Además su carcasa de goma protege bastante bien de los golpes y tiene una cierta adherencia que evita que resbale y caiga.Respecto al sonido es bastante bueno con unos graves bien resueltos. Si se pone en una esquina o contra la pared (dejando cierto hueco) mejora más el sonido.En cuanto a la recepción y respuesta de llamadas también funciona bien aunque quizás los graves hacen que el sonido no sea tan nítido por exceso de graves.La duración de la batería es aceptable y la posibilidad de tener salida de audio es excelente si no tienes un equipo de alta fidelidad con conexión bluetooth. Así puedes escuchar música desde el móvil directamente en tu equipo de alta fidelidad o en tu hilo musical.Como principal pega, quizás el precio, aunque no he probado otros sé que hay otros por la mitad de precio.
