High quality binding and exceptional notes
I love reading how the early church fathers interpreted passages of scripture. The notes are amazing to read, especially considering they were reading the scriptures in the original languages (Hebrew/Greek) or from the Vulgate (Latin), though most of the notes predate Jerome's Latin translation. That means we can reliably trust that the English translation is accurate. The CSB is a good translation, descended from the HCSB but without the Hebrew name of God being transliterated (Yahweh in the HCSB). It is easy to read but true to the original texts without taking too many liberties. The cloth-over-cardboard hardcover is sturdy in its construction, not too stiff in the binding, and the paper quality is exceptional. I like the sepia tones of the paper and the printing. It makes for a very pleasant reading experience. Overall an excellent Bible and valuable addition to my library.

Favorite Study Bible, better than ESV “Church History”
As a Protestant who like many unfortunately didn’t grow up learning much church history at all, I really like this study Bible. I don’t know much about the CSB translation, I bought this for the notes. It is very cool and at least a new concept for me that all the notes with commentary are from church fathers. While it handpicks quotes from the fathers that aren’t controversial against Protestantism, which I don’t love, but maybe that is helpful for Catholic/Orthodox to hear- it still is deep and rich and has very helpful articles about figures, councils and theology in church history. It aims to be ecumenical which I appreciate but also is firm on key doctrines of the Trinity and Incarnation. They quote from a wide variety of church fathers who are admired among different Christian traditions, which is what convinced me to get it instead of the Crossway ESV “church history” study Bible (theirs quotes Augustine and then just skips to the reformers🙄) I highly recommend this one, it is great for young Christians, those getting into church history, and even well learned because there are cool biographies, articles, and notes from commentaries that may be hard to find at least for a reasonable price. To get all of that for the price they’re selling it at is really good, I am really impressed with some of the stuff Holman is putting out with the CSB.

Excellent resource for an introduction to the early church writers
This Bible has instantly become my favorite from the moment I opened it. The study notes are all snippets from a variety of early church fathers, both Latin and Greek, going as far back as the 3rd century. I was pleased and surprised to find Origen included, though I'd imagine that some of his more.....speculative.....ideas won't be included here. Also a delight to find Gregory of Nazianzus, Evagrios, John Damascene, Maximos the Confessor, John Chrysostom, and even Symeon the New Theologian included here. These, along with the many others included, are the people who built the foundations of Christian theology. This Bible is a treasure of ancient commentary. Additional material included are biographies of some of the more prominent writers, a brief history of the first 4 ecumenical councils, an index of all writers quoted which lists every study note they are quoted in, color maps and a recommend reading list. Also included are a concordance, the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed. Seems to be of sturdy construction. The text size is easy on the eyes. Verse numbers and the names of writers quoted are in dark red. Each book has its own brief introduction. Also, full page articles throughout will include a longer quote from a selected father on a particular topic, such as Augustine on creation from nothing. The CSB translation strikes a good balance between formal and functional equivalence (that they call "optimal equivalence") that makes for an easy-to-read translation that doesn't seem to stray too far from a formal equivalent translation such as the NASB. All in all I'm delighted with this purchase. It's my go-to for study and devotions.
