Super great and fun to eat
LOVE! These beans are delicious, high quality, creamy, XL size. Their large size also makes them seem fun to eat and a novelty. The ingredients list is short, only beans and water. Since they have no added salt, a fair amount of salt/seasoning is required. The beans are somewhat fragile, so mix gently and if using in soups, add at the end of cooking. One of my favorite quick dinners is to drain and rinse these butter beans, heat up in the microwave (can also add chopped onion or bell peppers), drizzle with a good evoo, S&P & maybe fresh chopped herbs and top with homemade whole wheat breadcrumbs (made with butter/evoo, garlic salt, herbs; or Italian seasoned panko would work too; or the crumbs left in the bottom of a croutons or stuffing mix package).I have been very satisfied with all varieties of Carmelina / Mangia beans I have tried. Great, healthy product to use when you don't have time to soak and cook your own dried beans from scratch. Product is imported from Italy. As others, I have also experienced some dented cans that I use up first (nothing so damaged that it was unusable). I have ordered beans a number of times over the last few years and always have this issue - since Amazon has not corrected by now, I am not hopeful this will be resolved.Update 5/15/2015: on my latest order, the cans were delivered in perfect condition, no dents! The packaging has changed to a cardboard box having inner cardboard dividers between cans.

Delicious but 6 of 12 cans were slightly dented...not nice.
I had these exact cannned butter beans in Italy and wanted to have them here in the states. Thrilled to find them on Amazon for a reasonable price; however, half the cans were dented. I remember a news story (back in the the 70's) that highlighted that dented cans can cause botulism poisoning and can kill or paralyze. So, I'm not thrilled about receiving dented cans. These dents are minor but dented cans are usually in the sale aisle and you buy them by choice. These cans have a pull tab and the pull tabs broke off twice. Regarding the beans. I LOVE them. Yes, they need salt and seasoning. I prefer to do that on my own -- so I'm glad it's just pure beans in a can. Try them with a little mustard, a sweet vinegar and olive oil mixed together until it emulsifies. yummy

pop top, low sodium, different nutrition info!
One reviewer criticized these beans as being firm and flavorless. I can see what they mean. They do not melt in your mouth as easily as other butter beans I've had, but they still have a smooth and pleasing texture, and go well in chili. As for "flavorless", I think this perception was due to the very low sodium. The picture on Amazon says 66mg... the cans I received say 25mg per 1/3 of the can!! MUCH lower than I can find anywhere in the US. I get all my beans from Costco because they are 85mg sodium, which is much lower than most other brands which IIRC can be up to a disgustingly salty 300. I have added a picture of the nutritional info, which differs in other small ways too. Otherwise the packaging is very similar to the picture, and clearly the correct brand. The top is a pop top, and the cans themselves look just slightly roughed up, but not actually damaged. I would buy these beans again, since my store doesn't get them in consistently, and of course when they do it's the salty kind. But because of the slightly firm texture, I may still switch to a different source in the future, because I do want a perfectly melting butter bean. That's the point!

Two cans were missing from box.
Very disappointed being cheated out of two cans. We were expecting 12 cans being in the box instead there were 10.
