I purchased this Doug and Melissa chunky puzzle for my grandson's second birthday, and it immediately became his favorite toy--so much so that he insists on taking some of the animals with him wherever he goes, whether it's to the supermarket with his Mommy, playing outside, or visiting relatives.At this age, he loves animals, so he was extremely excited to open the package and find all the safari animals he loves. Also, the colors were very bright and grabbed his attention. Additionally, each animal piece is very easy for a toddler to pick up and place back into its space, the matching pictures under each piece allow animal and color matching activities, and the pieces stand on their own, so the puzzle also serves as an imaginative toy that children can create their own scenes and stories with.This fun, intellectually stimulating puzzle is extremely sturdy, had no missing pieces, and is an incredible value. I have since also purchased the Doug and Melissa farm animal chunky puzzle for my grandson for Christmas, and intend on purchasing the sea animals and vehicles puzzles as well. Just buy it! I highly recommend it and the toddlers and young children in your life will thank you!

Our son is two and loves completing puzzles. While he wants to try to do jigsaw puzzles, the wooden block puzzles are amazing and work perfectly well for his age. The pieces on this puzzle are thick and easy for him to grab, the colors are bright and beautiful, and he loves naming the animals as he puts the pieces together. Melissa and Doug puzzles have always been high quality and I continue to want to buy them over and over again!

I have both the safari and the vehicles puzzles. My son loves them. They are great quality considering my child chews on the pieces, throws them, etc. The pieces are thick enough to grip without needing a peg for little hands. My child loves to do the puzzle and we work on his motor skills, naming the pieces and making fun sound effects for them as a learning experience. These are worth every penny we have spent.

My grandson loves dinosaurs. Each dinosaur puzzle space has the matching dinosaur image as the puzzle piece which helps the little one match the dinosaur properly. My grandson knows the proper name for each dinosaur, but I wish it was also indicated on the dinosaur. The puzzle pieces are thick and durable, not able to bend or break (or bite)

Got this for my 1 year old. Love the quality. Love how it's wood. Great toy for young toddler learning about animals and shapes and doing puzzles. Always love the Melissa and Doug products and this one does not disappoint.

Good for a 2 to 3 year old but once they have learnt to do it they lose interest

It’s a Melissa & Doug product so how can it be bad! This puzzle is durable, the pieces are wooden obviously and thick which I love. It’s 50/50 with my one year old son when it comes to him playing with this puzzle, sometimes he uses it as a puzzle and others he uses the puzzle pieces as toys because they are “trucks”. Good purchase.
