Easy to hook up and works well with the Heater. Since all the cold air in the garage settles, I mounted the thermostat about 3 feet from the floor since that’s where I work on cars and other items. Versus up at eye level.

GOT THIS TO GO WITH MY OVERHEAD GARAGE HEATER. IT'S A HIGH VOLTAGE THERMOSTAT. I HAD AN ELECTRICIAN COME IN AND WIRE MY SHOP. HE HOOKED THIS THERMOSTAT UP TO MY HEATER. IT WORKS GREAT. I DON'T GET HUNG UP OVER DETAILS SO IF IT'S OFF BY A COUPLE OF DEGREE'S I'LL NEVER KNOW IT. ALL I KNOW IS IT WORKS LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO AND KEEPS MY SHOP NICE AND COMFORTABLE. IF YOUR PLANNING ON INSTALLING HEAT IN YOUR GARAGE OR SHOP AND YOU DON'T WANT TO MESS AROUND WITH WIRING CONTACTORS AND RELAYS AND TIMERS. GET ONE OF THESE. THEY SWITCH THE HIGH VOLTAGE SIDE AND ARE VERY EASY TO INSTALL. THANSK

This is a specialty thermostat. Not a standard single pole, double pole thermostat. It only works with Dr. Heater heating equipment

Bought my Dr. Heater a few years ago but got tired of going out and then forgetting about leaving it on. Installed this and now the shop cycles and maintains a constant temperature.

The instructions... aren't great. But paired with a Dr. Infrared heater this thing is awesome. I used it with the 7500w model and it's perfect. I use it as the "external thermostat" on that unit. Just know a few things: 1) It doesn't "turn off the device" on the lowest setting. What i mean by that is, it will literally trigger the heater based on the set temp and is fully automated. even at the lowest knob setting, it still registers that as a "temp" (even though it says lowest is like 45 degrees) and will trigger the heater to come on. However, this isn't a problem for me. I set it at 50 degrees F and it controls the heater beautifully (cycling it on/off when needed to hold temp). I just keep it on the opposite corner of the garage from where the heater is and it's very accurate. 2) You still need to turn your heater on with the remote or on the device, switch the toggle to "external thermostat" and then it works. It's also super accurate from what I can tell. My car thermometer and my regular old mercury one read 50 degrees F when it's set at that. So very nice.

What the instructions don't mention is that you need to unhook the on board thermostat, and connect those wires together.

The thermostat control will turn on, but it will not shut off - temperature keeps rising until you manually turn the knob.
