This thing worked great. I used it on beach vacations in 2015 and 2016...
2017: I have a serious problem. Again I misplaced the cases from 2015 AND 2016. So, I had to order this case a 3rd time. As soon as it arrived, I found the two previous orders. Duh... Anyway, obviously if I've bought the same thing three times I like it. It keeps my iPhone 7 dry and allows me to voice record notes. I'm sure I will be ordering another one in 2018 when I misplace the three I already have. 2016: So, here is my update. I foolishly misplaced this nifty case and when I discovered it missing I had to order a replacement before I took off for Ocean City, MD for my beach vacation. Got the very same model I purchased last year. Still just as watertight and reliable. I use my iPhone to record a verbal diary and even on the beach, in the wind, the audio is picked up just fine thru this case. And, I'm able to take photos thru it just fine as well. So, my addendum review is just as positive as my initial one. A good case. 2015: This thing worked great. I used it on a recent vacation to the shore where there was lots of salt water and lots of sand. I had previously had a Lifeproof case for my iPhone 5 but when I upgraded to the 6 Plus and read the terrible reviews of the corresponding Lifeproof case, I went with the JOTO. It was easy for me to use my phone in the case. I audio-record notes and, even in the stiff beach breeze, the phone picked up the sound just fine from inside the case. If I dropped the phone/case into the sand, I just rinsed the thing off and dried it with a towel and the phone was well protected. It is not a sleek case to carry in your pocket. I think of it more as a durable, outdoor protector. For my beach, kayaking and other potentially damp (and dirty) activities, I keep my JOTO at hand.

Works great for the cost!
Worked great. It's hard to see under water with the sun above you. But, I just pointed and shot and it came out great for the most part. As everyone before said, it is hard to press the button under water. So, you have to press the video button prior to taking it underwater.

4/5 Stars - Reliable Waterproof Pouch with Some Minor Drawbacks
I’ve been using the JOTO Universal Waterproof Phone Pouch for a few weeks, and overall, I’m very pleased with its performance. The case is well-made, providing solid waterproof protection while allowing full access to my phone’s touchscreen. The clear windows on both sides are a great feature for taking photos or using apps without needing to remove the phone from the pouch. I’ve tested it during kayaking and pool sessions, and it has held up perfectly—no leaks or issues. Pros: • Universal Fit: The pouch easily accommodates my iPhone 14 Pro Max, and it’s versatile enough for other phones up to 7 inches. • Clear Windows: The transparent front and back make it convenient to use the camera and check notifications. • Waterproofing: It lives up to the IPX8 rating, keeping my phone safe from water, sand, and dirt. I’ve used it underwater up to 6 feet, and it stayed perfectly sealed. • Secure Locking Mechanism: The snap and lock system is straightforward and reliable, giving you peace of mind in wet conditions. • Lightweight and Portable: The included neck strap is handy, and the pouch itself is lightweight, so it doesn’t feel cumbersome during activities. Cons: • Tight Fit for Larger Phones: If your phone has a bulky case, you’ll likely need to remove it before using the pouch. It’s a snug fit, which can be inconvenient if you prefer keeping your phone fully protected. • Touch Sensitivity: While the touchscreen generally works well, it’s less responsive when submerged. I found it difficult to use certain functions like swiping or typing accurately underwater. • Fogging: After prolonged use in water, the inside of the pouch tends to fog up a bit, making it harder to take clear photos. Overall, this JOTO waterproof pouch is a solid, budget-friendly option for anyone who enjoys outdoor activities and needs reliable phone protection. Despite the minor drawbacks, it’s a great investment for beach days, boating, and other water adventures!

works perfect for underwater!
I took this on a cruise with me to the Honduras, Mexico, and Belize, and it held up perfectly! I was so scared to put this in the water for the first time (after testing it, of course), but it proved to work very well! In fact, I ended up just using it as a carrying case for my room key and phone throughout the cruise! I took it with me snorkeling along the barrier reef in Belize, and I got so many wonderful pictures and videos of underwater! A few things to note, though: 1- the touchscreen DOES NOT work underwater. if you want to take pictures or videos, you can use the volume buttons, which worked fine for me. 2- it is difficult for the camera to focus underwater! This, unfortunately, you'll just have to deal with. the frequent changes in light due to the refraction from the water makes it difficult to shoot underwater, but you should still be able to get some pictures! 3- the videos will be shaky if you're in the ocean! 4- HOLD ON TO YOUR PHONE IF YOU'RE IN DEEP WATERS. this is obviously just a precaution, as the lanyard held up pretty well, but just in case I would advise you to hold on to your phone. 5- get all the air out before you close it! because it's watertight, it's also airtight, so get all the air out before you close it so you can use the touchscreen better That being said, I would definitely recommend this! it kept my phone bone dry and I got some cool pics and videos from snorkeling! (see attached) it's a great deal and the quality is amazing.

Could Work For You?
First off, it worked from the standpoint that I submerged my Samsung Note 4 in the Ocean, maybe down to 10 feet or so, and the phone never got wet. The reason for my 3 star rating is simply a practical usability factor. I noticed that when I was submerged, I had a difficult time getting the phone to react to my actions. It was difficult to get it to do what I wanted. Between "snorkels," I got back on the boat and changed the sensitivity of my touch screen, but that didn't seem to help. I don't know if it was the pressure of the water, or the air trapped in the case that might have caused this. 2nd, and this is a personal issue that might be a personal issue for you as well. What is your age?! Do you have to have reading glasses? I wore my contacts, maybe for obvious reasons (my glasses won't fit under a diving mask). This presented a big issue...I couldn't read the screen to see what I was doing! I would say that normally, that is completely my fault. However, the case itself creates a glare from the plastic, so my lack of vision became nearly impossible. I couldn't see well enough to unlock my phone, so I unlocked it on the boat and set the expiration for a long period of time. When I got back into the water, I just kept touching the screen constantly so that I was taking pictures continuously. So, did I get some pictures of fish? Yes. Did the case protect my phone. Yes. But here's the kicker. Were the pictures worth it or really any good? No. Nor was the hassle. I take the blame though. Should you bother trying to take underwater pictures on your dive or snorkel trip with your smart phone. Nahhh. Forget it. Not worth the hassle. But, I did like the fact that while we were ON THE BOAT, the camera was safely around my neck and protected from spray, dropping into puddles of water, etc. So, maybe it was worth the purchase, and maybe it will work better for you.

Good quality just be careful in extreme hot weather
I purchased 2 of these for our recent trip to Cancun. I was a bit skeptical at 1st but I did test them out as instructed in the packaging by putting a tissue inside of the case and submerging them into a pot filled with water, I even put a glass on top to keep it under water and left it there for 20 minutes...and the tissue was completely dry!!! not a drop of moisture inside of the case. Now the true test, every day use at the beach and in the water. The 1st 2 days were perfect, no water or moisture at all. Day 3 there was a slight bit of moisture, not sure if it did not seal as well due to the amount of heat the plastic was under or if a bit of sand got caught up in the seal. It was hot in Cancun, mid to high 80's and the plastic casing did not hold up well in that heat, it was causing the phone to overheat , even with trying to keep the phone out of the direct sun, we had a cabana where I put the phone and the casing still got very hot. So keep this in mind, don't leave the phone inside the case under those types of temps, take it out so it doesn't overheat your phone. Accessing the phone and camera were easy with no problem. My only issue is that the pictures I did take did not come out as clear as if I didn't have the phone in the case. My husband is a model and I use my phone to get a lot of his photos but this time I didn't get the quality pictures I usually get, the color did not come through as vivid and seemed like there was a haze, and I have the new Samsung Galaxy S9+ which takes phenomenal pics. So if you are trying to get great quality pics make sure to take your phone out of the case. Overall, it's a good quality product and I will definitely use it at the beach to protect our phones from getting sand in them and to go on walks near the water.
