Love my chiaogoo needles!
I stumbled onto Chiaogoo about 4 years ago. I absolutely love everything about them. I was overjoyed when they came out with the Shorties. Trying to find 9” fixed circulars was nearly impossible in the sizes I wanted and needed. The shorties are awesome. I have the sizes I want. The tips are nice and pointed. The joins for cables and adapters are smooth. They are a little costly , but well worth the investment to me. In the long run I do not have multiple circular sets in different lengths everywhere.I saw review by one person telling how she likes to use a 2” needle on one end a 3” needle on the opposite end of the cable. I find myself doing the same.Chiaogoo does not currently sell the 2” needle separately, but they do sell the 3”. Right now I can only buy extra sets of needles (to make flexible double points) which leaves me with a lot of 5 and 6 inch cables. Now that they have come out with cables that swivel, I wish they could be included in the sets.

Good size for socks
I just got these a couple days ago and used one to do a rounded toe with the 2 circular method, the other needle was my fixed 9” chiaogoo. I just cast on the 2nd sock on the 5” cable and 2” tips this morning, I love my chiaogoo needles but think I like the fixed 9” better. The cables on this set are very thin compared to the fixed one, the connection is smooth, can tighten both cables and needle tips with the tightening pins. All in all I’ll keep them but if the cables on a larger set of minis are the same as these I would not buy them. Will stick to the fixed for sock needles if I need different sizes again. I have other interchangeable needles and cables from chiaogoo, size 6 through 9 and their corresponding cables too.

Yay for not needing to buy a full set!
I love that I could buy the size I needed for socks, without having to buy other needles that I would rarely use. I do have trouble tightening these enough to stay and I have to check them every so often since the circumference of the sock means I’m loosening them often.

Wonderful for socks!
I have been struggling with double pointed needles when I make socks for years then I ran into a pattern that called for a short circular needle. I had never seen one so I checked on Amazon, found these and thought I would give them a try. They are a little different to get used to, but once your hands adapt to them they are amazing. I got the US size 1 tips, but I am going to get tips in more sizes as soon as I can. Socks work up much more quickly than on double points and you don't drop stitches. These little needles are worth a lot more than what they charge for them.

A lot of pluses, one big minus
There are plenty of reviews saying how great these are and I agree with them for the most part. What I like most about the Chiaogoo Shorties is that by buying two packs, I get four flexible double point needles. As I knit close to the tips, the length of the needles is not a problem for me, in fact I prefer the 2" ends. Unfortunately, there is another reason why I prefer the 2" to the 3" and that has to do with a design flaw, which I consider a big minus. I have several sets of Shorties in different sizes and they all have this problem. The 2" needles, which are described as being solid, have a hole the same size as that of the cable. You put the "keys" (okay, they are T-pins) in each hole to give you leverage to tighten the connection. When you do this, it holds really well. If you do not, the needle will start to unscrew from the cable. That is the problem with the 3", which are hollow; there is no hole on the needle, just a little indent that does no good. Chiaogoo sells a rubber grip (not included, only the T-pins), but I have tried using another rubber grip and it doesn't work. I just have to knit along until I start to feel the yarn catch as it goes over the join, push my work onto the cable, tighten the needle, go back to knitting until it happens again.Using the 2" as the working needle and knitting off the 3" needle helps, but this shouldn't be a "make do" situation. As mush as I like Chiaogoo, I am seriously considering another company's set of fixed flexible double points, just so I won't have this problem.

Smaller tips make it difficult to knit smoothly
While I generally LOVE Chiaogoo needles, the 2” needles were extremely hard to knit with. The cable kept unscrewing from the needle tip and/or the yarn would get stuck where the tightening hole on the needle was exposed. The 3” needles worked fine. I sent them back and purchased 3” needle tips instead. An expensive option when the smaller tips make it difficult to knit.

2-inch needles too small to grip comfortably
I bought these for knitting hats, necks and sleeves. I do not knit socks. I get their utility and the 3-inch needles were okay. I can use the 3-inch ones for short periods of time but they did tend to cramp my hands after a while. The 2-inch ones were useless - I couldn't really get a grip. I'm a petite woman with small hands but it might work for others based on how they hold the needles and yarn. As a set, I found this too expensive. While the smaller cords and 3-inch needles are useful, I would've preferred the option of buying them separately, and will not buy any of the other sizes. The quality of the needles and cords are excellent - similar to the other Chiaogoo Twist Red Lace products.

Perfect
Great smaller size cord.......they work great for smaller projects. I wish they were interchangeable with my other interchangeable needles but they are not.........the join / screw on part is much smaller. They do work great though.

No premium product
I bought this after a friend recommended it strongly to me. Up until then, I’m a “Knitpro girl”. But hey, broaden that horizon! I assembled the cable and needles, casted on hopes high, knitted a round and... Got stuck. The yarn had snagged at the point where the cable is attached. No biggie, ChiaGoo seemed to like it tight so tightened the cable... Knitted again... Yarn snagged at the OTHER cable end (which was tightened together with its sibling at the first snag). Okay okay... About seven rounds in and countless snags I gave up.The packaging is far from premium (for almost 40€ I think they can do a lot better than a bit of cardboard and a tumbled mess...), the cable tightener feels like it's barely up for the job and cable nor needle are knitpro-smooth so... Return it is.

Traumnadeln!
