I peeled an apple and placed a few chunks inside for about an hour. I did vaccuum it prior. But my apple turned out very brown. It didn't keep it 'fresh' as they stated in the discription. However the material is made of high quality.

I've been using food saver products for years so when I got the chance to try this  Seed Stainless-steel Food Storage Container Set , I jumped at the opportunity. The idea is simple; air is the enemy of food, we've been told this for years, but with this set, it's easy to fight back. I love that I don't need power or electric, just a simple to use hand pump. To unseal, lift up slightly on the center silicone stopper (same place you place the pump over) til all the pressure is gone. There is a little numb on the lid that shows when the air is out, and when it is released.This set comes with two bowls with sealing lids, one pump, and a thermal carry case. I like this for keeping chips and veggies fresh and crisp. I like that the bowls are made of stainless steel, less plastic to worry about, and easy to toss in the dishwasher for quick cleanup.Overall, great quick storage set, good seal and very quality build.[Review Sample Provided For Review And Evaluation]

I’ve now used this product for a several weeks, taking various lunch items to work in these vacuum sealed stainless steal containers. What I’ve discovered is that the vacuum sealed containers can be used for almost everything. Vegetables stay really fresh and crisp and fruits don’t brown—a big pet peeve for both my son and I. And chicken and any other meats are incredibly fresh and taste so much better than putting them in a plastic tub.Pros1) Meats, vegetables and fruits stay so fresh it’s like you just cut them up prior to eating them for lunch.2) The seals on the containers are outstanding -don’t worry if your lunch bag tips over, nothing will leak.3) There is a rubber bubble that collapses letting you know when the vacuum is formed in the container.4) Pulling the center rubber ring on top of the lid will break the vacuum bringing air back into the container, allowing you to open the lead.5) The vacuum pump included is small enough to easily fit into the lunch bag alongside the two vacuum containers.6) The lunch bag has a thermal lining that zips to keep your lunch cold or hot.7) Very well made product.ConsNoneI whole hardily recommend this product if you love eating freshly prepared food at lunch.
