Released too early!
First, I have to say there is a lot to like about the Glo Bible. Its fun to sift through the scriptures and the zoom feature is great if you are looking for a story you know, but don't know exactly what chapter it is in. (The zoom takes you to headings). The pictures are awesome and rich, the detail on things like the temple are cool, and even the little movies are fun. However, unless you are super-patient, and computer savy - you might want to wait until Glo Bible 2.0 or something. I had numerous problems (and a scan of Facebook's Glo Bible Fan Group would reveal many had technical problems).1. Its HUGE and I had to install it twice because the first installation didn't finish. But - there is no uninstall so I had to go through manually and pull files out.2. The second installation took 3 hours (and you can't do anything else on your computer while you run it - so keep a book handy).3. Its glitchy - more than once I've had it suddenly "shut down" or clicked an article that said "This file is not available and the whole thing shut down". When I try to go to "Update" the entire software shuts off.4. As mentioned before - there is no "help". When you click "help" it tells you to send the company and email. I did do that, and to their credit, got an email back in about 12 hours that simply said "Help and an instruction manual will be finished by Thanksgiving".5. Not all that's promised. One of the main reasons I bought it was for the "reader tracking" which is supposed to have bible calendars, and track reading, etc. Once the download was done I discovered it is NOT in the software and won't be finished until "mid-November" -- THAT should be mentioned on the website.6. The Journal promised and appeared to have a place where you can write your notes, thoughts, experiences etc. But it doesn't. Basically you can highlight a scripture and make a personal note (which is cool) which shows up in your journal, but you can't really write a journal entry. So - its a product with huge potential to change how people use the bible. BUT - it was released WAY WAY WAY too early and needs to have some bugs worked out before its really ready to shine.

Wait for Glo
I was very excited to purchase Glo after watching the promo video. The long install didn't bother me, but the program just isn't ready. The program lagged and was very sluggish on a Dell XPS 1330 with a core 2 processor, 3 gb of ram, and an Nvidia graphics card. When navigating their maps, the program would completely lock-up and crash. Also, the entire My Glo section is not even set-up yet. It is obvious that the product was not ready to ship and they rushed it out the door. How do you ship a program like this without an uninstall option. I had to e-mail the company and they sent me these instructions.Delete GLO's registry keysPlease follow these steps.--------Delete GLO's registry keys--------1- Click the START button2- Windows Vista: In "start search" field, type the word "regedit" Windows XP: In the "Run" type the word "regedit"3- Click "Ok"4- Click the '+' sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to open it5- Click the '+' sign next to SOFTWARE to open it6- To delete Glo's registry key, single-click the folder called "IMMERSION DIGITAL" and Press the DELETE key on your keyboard.7- When RegEdit asks you to confirm the deletion, click YES8- Close the RegEdit window and move to the next step below--------Delete Program folder--------In Windows XP:1- Click on the Start button, select "Computer"2- Click on the C Drive3- Click on the Program Files folder4- Delete the Immersion Digital folder you will see in thereIn Vista:1- Click on the Start button, select "My Computer"2- Click on the C Drive3- Windows Vista 32 bits: Click on the Program Files folder Windows Vista 64 bits: Click on the Program Files (x86) folder4- Delete the Immersion Digital folder you will see in there5- Move to the next step below--------Delete data folder--------In Windows XP:1- Click on Start2- Click on "My Computer"3- Click on C:5- Click on "Documents and Settings"6- Click on "username" (your user name), also check under "All Users"7- Click on "Local Settings"8- Click on "Application Data"9- Delete the "Glo" folder (or "Immersion Digital" folder)On Windows Vista:1- Click on "Start"2- Click on "Computer"3- Click on C:4- Click on "ProgramData"5- Delete the "Glo" folder6- Move to the next step below(If your computer displays a message like "this folder is hidden" simply click to "show all" so you can see its content)This will remove Glo completely from your computer. Then you can install Glo cleanly from the beginning. There are several updates that will be available for you to download during the installation process, so please make sure that you get all of the updates.I mean come on. The program looks great, but it still needs some work. I would wait to see if they update it.

Glo Makes the Bible Fun Again! The Straight Scoop...
Here's the straight scoop:The package: Glo is very nicely packaged in a 3 DVD disc set.Installation: This program is beefy since there is a lot to install. That being said, you should expect atleast two hours as I have corei7 processor with 6Gb of memory OCed at 3.8ghz. I also installed using SATA drives for maximum throughput performance. Sidenote: The installation will let you run a 'lite version' so you don't have to install everything or if you have limited space. The software will indicate if the appropriate DVD needs to be installed if you are trying to acquire a specific picture or document. Also, you need to make sure your PC has the latest DirectX and Windows patches. If not, there will be a delay in installation to install these as well. It also install a 'lite' sql database. Everything worked the first time on my windows XP and Windows 7 machine tests.Presentation: This is excellent. It's very intuitive. One user commented about a manual, but as long as your IQ is over 90, it's a piece of cake. Point and click. The virtual tours are great. It will take hours just to try everything.Content: It would take years to go through all the content, my cursory review indicates its solid but this it too hard to judge completely and would need to leave this up to someone else. It does come in the KJV and NIV versions.CONS: Simply put, sound. The digital generation is so used to sound when you point and click apps and or some other ambient noise/music. To date, I have not found that as something to turn on or off or at all. That part does dissapoint. It's like watching the Matrix on a HD screen with the sound turned off.Overall: I am very happy with the purchase and excited to get this on my kids computer and to use for teaching and studying the bible. I would recommend to others.

upgraded from one star to four
I read the first review of this product expressing disappointment in technical glitches, and went ahead and bought the software anyhow. I'd previously installed a demo version and was quite impressed, and was excited about incorporating the software into my Religious Studies classes. All I can say is "don't do it." The software would not install. I assumed the demo version might be the cause, but trying to uninstall it was a nightmare. Fortunately, I have live-in tech help, and with some effort we uninstalled the demo, but to no avail. The "locked" portions (which should be unlocked in the full version) remain locked, and there was no way to install the second or third discs. Going to the website results in a "under development" message. Bottom line: great idea, glossy packaging, impressive demonstration kiosks in your local Christian bookstore, but it's a dud. The emperor has no clothes.Update: Things have improved since the first roll-out. Updates are released consistently, and the ipad app is decent. Also, you can use it across your multiple apple devices. I've upgraded my review from one star to four.
