This is something I'd never have thought of. I saw reviews for similar products stating they were small or underfilled. These were MUCH larger than expected and very full of good quality cotton, not some cheap polyfill. I will say while I put these out after nesting season, none of my birds even landed on it to check it out. My error I tried to get the titmice and wrens to show some attention by throwing some walnuts on top of the cotton. First, it rained and the walnuts stained the cotton brown, second an angry squirrel that couldn't get to my squirrel proof feeders ripped one apart pretty well, last I mistakenly had this same one hung in a place where my gutters were overflowing from hard rain and became very mishappen with the bottom sagging. These were all my fault issues, and I can say despite all of that it not only held its shape but with future light rain it is now back to its original form. The second one hung in a better spot, also hasn't been touched but through all kinds of weather, it still looks like that day I hung it. I do hope my birds do eventually pay attention to these. I cringed at reading other people refilling these with polyfill, not sure if this is bad - but I cannot imagine it's good. I was planning on buying organic cotton to refill, until I found 2 free options we all have. Pet fur and dryer lint. Your dog or cat would probably love a good brushing anyway. I have a trash can in my laundry room that is ONLY dryer lint - it probably gets actually emptied once or twice a year. (I double rinse and don't use dryer sheets, so I'm not concerned about foreign chemicals - but some people might need to be concerned.)

Oh what fun we are having watching birds of every kind working to pull the fiber from these cute hangers. I thought I was late putting them out in late May but the birds certainly proved me wrong. In fact as I write a Goldfinch just pulled the last bit of fiber from one of the balls and the other is almost empty. Must be the birds are reading their nests for a second hatching. I’m ordering fiber to refill them tonight and a set for our son to place at his house. As a side note it will be fun this winter to find all those nests with the soft fiber lining ;)

I bought these for my hummingbird loving friend. She really liked them and loved the idea of having a hummingbird family living in her back yard. They were easy to hang and were really adorable. We added a few shredded cotton balls to the nests. It's really a unique and nice present. Will probably go back and buy some for myself too.

I LOVE these hummingbird nesters! They have the rustic look that I love and they are hanging so cute in our flower bed, next to two of our five hummingbird feeders. I didn't even know these existed, but so happy that I found them. The birds are already using them, and I am loving them! Thank you so much for these! I had never heard of these Nesting materials for birds. I ordered 2 and am very pleased with my purchase. It gives the birds a nice option when preparing their nest. Thank you very much.

Design and construction is good but they will not last more than 1 or 2 seasons. Installed 4 but have never seen a bird use them and no indication that the materials are gone.

Stays in place well. Two birds nests have been made using it.
