Good quality and integral pivot-open case very beneficial
The taper gauge is good quality. The integral steel case helps protect the gauge blade from bending and scratches when not in use. The case is attached to the large end of the gauge with a firm rivet/post so that the gauge blade pivots out of the case for use. This feature of being attached together and pivoting makes the handle help in holding/position the gauge when in use. The hand you hold the tool with can hold the gauge while the pivoted-open case also rests across your palm, stabilizing the gauge and allowing you to more precisely position/orient the gauge when measure with it. I definitely recommend this taper gauge with its integral steel case.

A nice, handy taper gauge
It's fast and simple to use when you need to measure the size of a hole. Easy to read. It won't measure very tiny holes like the ones in watch movements because of the rectangular shape of the metal. A round tapered point would be needed for very small holes. It opens and closes easily.

Shinwa Quality, Taper Metric Gauge.
I have found that most of the many Shinwa products that I own are quality items. This is a sharp end thin metal gauge that folds into the integral stamped metal holster. It is easy to read and works nicely for my metric bore measurement tasks.

Very handy for me. Every one wants one now that they have seen it.
I work with a lot of metric sized Teflon tubing and normally they don't have the size embossed on the side like our standard nylon tubing. This is always nice to have in your pocket when you have to run and get a length of tubing for a repair. Well made and because it folds up you wont end up stabbing yourself in the shirt pocket area, which is a big plus.

Great gauge.
A bit pricy for what you get, but it's nice for it to have a case. However, I ordered several of these and one came with a burr on the side so that is a bit problematic.
