Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear (5) Paperback – June 1, 2015

The book arrived in less than satisfactory condition.

My 9 year old son loves these books. We bought every one. He enjoys the humor and the pictures make him feel as if the book isn't overwhelming.

This book is hilarious for kids and parents alike. I look forward to getting a new Mr Gum book almost as much as my seven year old son does.

Just for a change of pace, this one has more or less of a plot. But don't let that discourage you. It's still a rollicker and a frolicker, you little nibbleheads. Polly and Friday and Alan Taylor and Jake the Dog are always saving the Town of Lamonic Bibber from evil Mr. Gum and Billy William the Third. Shabba me whiskers, but this is exciting stuff. It's silly, but not dumb. It's inventive, but not obscure. It's shrewd, but not condescending. It's dry, but not with that odd Dahl aftertaste. And for my little ones, it has been engaging, amusing, and very popular. They can be avant-garde before they're kindergarde. So, if you've been waiting for post-modern to reach pre-school, here it is.

My son started book #1 at age 5 and is hooked! Absurdist humor that always cracks us up. "Shabba me whiskers" out of the mouth of a five year old is a gift!We love this author and his favorite tv show 'Bag of Sticks'.

Funny book to read to my 7 year old! Quirky and ideal for a boy!

Please write more Andy Staunton! Especially when put into audio books....prevents so many stressful fights between siblings in the back of the car!!!
