Love, Hate - **Update**
The concept of the bag, the layout and everything else is about perfect for me. I absolutely love the functionality, size, look, design. In that regard, I love this bag.I don't feel it's very well built. After two months of very normal/gentile use, the backpack strap came apart at the seams. Some of the straps/handles feel a bit flimsy and this proved to be the case with the backpack strap. Despite this, I still liked the bag a lot. Now, onto my issues with Vanguard USA. After reporting the issue to Adorama (the 3rd party seller) they advised me to contact Vanguard USA customer service to replace the defective bag. After talking to Vanguard USA they asked me to ship them back the bag, AT MY COST, and they would ship a new one.Normally, I would expect them to send a pre-paid return label, or send the new bag and have me return the defective one in the box or something. When I asked for a return label they said it was against company policy to do that. So after pricing my return at Fed-Ex, UPS and USPS the cheapest return option for me was $40 to ship it back via USPS.So now I'm out an additional $40 for a $150 bag. I'm not exactly sure how I'm responsible for a defective bag, but here I am. I have a Vanguard tripod and one of their other Alta Sky bags for my 600mm. However, this customer experience has really soured me on them and I'm not sure I would buy from or recommend them again in the future.***UPDATE***I have received a call from a team member at Vanguard USA and the representative was very polite and helpful. They have offered to replace my bag and refund my expense for shipping the defective one back to them. I am impressed with this follow-up on their part as I didn't really expect anything, but am pleasantly pleased. When I receive the replacement bag I will use it as normal and hopefully it will hold up well. I'm looking forward to futher use of this bag, as it has been my favorite of many photography bags thus far.

Short people friendly, FX gear, 200mm zoom
Finally a bag for small people who carry FX camera gear!I'm 5ft tall female about 105lbs and trying to find a bag to fit my size was miserable.I highly recommend this bag for people who want something not too bulky on their small torso frame.- The bag has a nice material quality, zippers are smooth.- It's wide enough to carry a 70-200zoom in horizontal.- It's a nice touch to easily be able to switch from backpack, to hand carry, or to sling.- Not bulky for small people / short torso / women. Convenient as everyday backpack carry.- Doesn't scream that it's a camera backpack.- The width of the straps are perfect for the Peak Design capture clip.- It has some extra storage space on the top.- The collapsible water bottle spot is nice as well, as it's not taking the extra width whenever it's not being used.Only con is that they should have made a thicker hip belt. The default hip belt is not sufficient to feel the support in my opinion. I added a Onetigris padded hip belt and it feels much more supportive. They do give a pocket/space to slide a belt though, so it allows you to replace the belt.Great little bag!

Almost Fit
First, this bag is really great! The few things that I like:- it doesn't look like a camera bag like you're carrying a bunch of expensive gear)- multiple ways to carry (backpack, shoulder bag, briefcase)- multiple ways to get to your gear (top, side, back)Unfortunately, one of the things that I really liked was also the reason why I had to return it....it's nice a slim, it doesn't stick out. But because of the lens I have (Sony 200-600) and the HUGE lens hood, the bag just wasn't deep enough. another inch or inch and a half would be perfect.

Neat and Minimalist Form
I was torn between Vanguard VEO SELECT49 and Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L. Went to a camera and tried both. The Vanguard VEO Select 49 is lighter and I really like the neat and clean design. On the other hand, the Peak Design backpack made me look Ninja Turtle with the curves and hump on my back. Tested both bags for camera readiness speed and I found the Vanguard faster. The Vanguard VEO SELCT49 like some of my Samsonite backpacks are squarish in design and they look elegant. Most camera backpack are designed for function. The Vanguard VEO SELECT 49 is both functional and stylish. This camera backpack can easily pass off as a business laptop backpack. I am happy with my purchase.

Good but not great.
After using this bag for quite some time now I feel like I'm ready to make the review. It's good, but not great. Has a lot of features, many of which sound great but end up underused (side access pocket? I forget it's even there.)It is large, not uncomfortable, and most importantly I love that it opens from the back. When you drop your bag down to access your gear the part of the bag that has contact with the ground does not touch your nice clothes while at events - this was essential for me as a wedding photographer because I wear nice shirts to weddings, and don't want to run around with dirt or mud on me. I don't care if it gets on my bag.The front panel of this bag is easy to clear, but the very front pocket at the top is a trap for dirt and sand. Initially I was keeping memory cards there but have since opted to keep nothing in that pocket, rendering it useless to me. It's soft lined so perhaps a phone? But if the pocket takes on dirt every time you lay the bag down I don't think you should use it for anything of value.I find the side handles useless. I only use them when rearranging my trunk - otherwise they just get in the way. This particular bag is too big and when full too heavy to wear as a side bag. The bonus messenger bag strap appears to be of great quality though, the bag is giant (49) - so pretty in-practical to wear on my side. The metal zipper pulls have all chipped off their paint and are showing signs of rust. I've used this bag for exactly 6 months now. (mid January to mid July). Admittedly I am not gentle with gear but I also expect a bag described as this one to stand up to my daily use.The bag offers great protection to equipment, great colour options (I got green), and admittedly looks slick. It's decent for the price, but perhaps I had my hopes up too high as I do feel disappointed that it's not holding up as well I expected. Maybe the perfect bag does not exist? Or maybe, just like other photographers, my needs keep changing and therefore my bag does too?

nothing impressive but straps skipped the gym
honestly it's not a bad bag. I like that the 49 (FINALLY) can hold DSLR lenses unlike the 45 which was protruding and poking my back when i store DSLR regardless of orientation.zippers are mediocre but appreciate the little compartments everywhere in the bag.Shoulder straps are easily the worst. For the price being charged at, i really expected better straps. It's not that it sucks but it definitely feels cheap. Not to mention I am not looking forward to how easy it'd get flattened over time.tripod strap is fine i guess but i rly wish they let you store at the front of the bag instead of the side. I can't put the tripod i use for Bird photography cuz that thing is humongous. I guess it's fine if you using some type of travel tripod but definitely not the bulkier ones at all. I really wish there was a water bottle holder on the other side (where the quick opening patch is) because at least then it can counteract the tripod weight on that one sideAm i satisfied? Not really. but it gets the job done and i can put my tamron 150-600mm G2 lens (Detached) and other camera gear WHILE still having a compartment to store my water bottle or other small personal items in the top crater compartment
