Stainless Steel Strainer for the Win!
I’m no Gordon Ramsay or Julia Child, but I do consider myself above average in the kitchen. I’m also not a big gadget person, mainly because space is limited in my kitchen. That said, I’m genuinely happy with this stainless steel strainer. It’s a total game changer! If you make homemade stock or love a delicate soup, this strainer is a must-have. It does the job with precision, and it’s sturdy enough to handle anything I throw at it. Definitely a great addition to any kitchen.

Works for yogurt!
I was about to get the Matfer version which comes highly recommended for making yogurt, but at over $80 it really made me think twice, and I ended up finding this version. The lack of reviews commenting on whether the mesh was fine enough for yogurt, and the occasional review mentioning irregular spacing in the mesh did make me a bit apprehensive, but at $25 I figured it was worth the risk. This strainer is proper stainless steel, and is completely dishwasher safe, so cleaning is super easy. The "cage" design is also great for protecting the mesh during storage, and helps stand the strainer up during use.Long story short, the mesh does indeed have some imperfections, and it is less dense at the very bottom, but IT WORKS. Not even a teaspoon of solids made it through the mesh, while the whey slowly dripped out, leaving me with lovely, thick, creamy Greek style yogurt. It's quite tall, too tall to put in my fridge unfortunately, so I'm limited to very short straining times at room temperature, but 30 minutes is enough to get about 3/4 cup of whey out of the yogurt, and that's good enough for me.Definitely recommended for yogurt (and I suppose other things that require fine mesh strainers).Edit : I realised I forgot to mention why I knocked a star off - it's because of the slight imperfections in the mesh and the wider mesh at the bottom.

Perfect for homemade broth
I like that this strainer will strain all the broth at once. Also the flat bottom so tipping over as easy to happen.

Nicely designed strainer
When I bought this device I had in mind what my mom had many many years ago that goes way back to the1950's when I was child old enough to notice what was going on in the kitchen. I have no idea what it was called way back then but is called a China Cap now, a rigid aluminum cone with the very small holes and the cone shaped pestle to match the strainer to smash/juice what ever was inside. People of her generation did a great deal of canning, especially living up north where home gardens had a short growing season so many people had to stock up on home made canned food as there were no grocery stores close by like today.I was after the smallest holes strainer but now I would prefer the China Cap because the pestle isn't very effective against the flexible sides of this device. It is however great for straining large quantities of liquids from a large pot to keep from making a mess all over the sink or counter top.The construction is solid and built in stand and hook on far side are welcome aids in using this strainer.I like it but doubt will use it much. I would not waste money on the pestle, a large spoon works fine with soft sided strainer.I have to give it 5 stars for what it is, a solid kitchen tool. My lack of being able to use it as I envisioned it can't be considered like so many customers do for products they buy in error and then mark a product down.
