A mixed bag: good charger, poor hand warmer
This is a difficult review to write. - As a battery charger, this unit is excellent: the 7800mAh capacity is good for the weight/size of the unit, it's compact enough to keep in a suit jacket pocket without feeling weighed down, and charging time seems to be fairly swift. - As a torch, it's useful. It's not a replacement for a Maglite or other 'proper' torch, but as something to find one's way to the bathroom in an unfamiliar surrounding (holiday let or hotel, for example), it's perfect. I suspect it'd be useful for those who enjoy camping and need something to last a good few hours. - As a hand warmer, this unit is useless. According to the specs it claims 46C. In my tests, surface temperature never rose above 40C. I've lived/worked in countries with an ambient air temperature in the shade of more than that. It simply doesn't generate enough heat to really achieve warm hands, especially when it's in a sock or other insulator to prevent cooldown. By contrast, the charcoal stick-based hand warmer I use when I'm photographing from the water easily heats to over 60C and needs to be kept in a sock to prevent one burning one's hands on it.Tthis isn't necessarily a criticism of this unit specifically - I've yet to find any other electrical hand warmer that comes close to the performance of the charcoal hand warmer I have.

Very usefull and versatile
Works well as a hand warmer and also very versatile being also a powerbank charger and torch. I have found that as a hand warmer this has heat output fairly similar to the fuel type hand warmers when used in a similar way (i.e. in pocket). When removed from pocket and left in the open it will rapidly cool down. It is best to wrap your hands around it to allow it to warm up. It is useful as it can be switched on or off as needed and there is no smell as with the fuel type hand warmers. I find it best for use indoors when your hands are cold, using it outdoors is okay but I would not recommend it getting a good soaking in case water gets inside and ruins it. As a powerbank this is handy if your phone needs a recharge when out and about, the torch function is also useful at times when you need some light, such as if you are camping or don't want to disturb others by turning on main lights. I would recommend keeping this fully charged between uses to maximise battery lifespan and for maximum availability. I really like this product and find that I will use it a lot as a hand warmer during the cold weather and as a powerbank during the summer.Additional comments January 2016: I am really impressed with this item and like it so much that I have purchased another, now I can always have warm hands by using one whilst the other is recharging.

Sometimes you really do get what you pay for -
Excellent product-excellent value-only downside, the whole family now want one !A few weeks ago --I bought two hand warmers from different sites - one was around 15 pounds but this one was more expensive. The first one (from another site and another manufacturer) lasted for 2 hours after the first charge, 1 hour after the second and 20 minutes after the third- I threw it away on the way home from its first outing to a football match as it barely made it to kick off and was in fact even more disappointing than the team. After my first 'hand warmer' experience my expectations were maybe a little low when this second, more expensive one turned up, the EnergyFlux Enduro. It arrived an hour before we set off for the football game exactly one week later meaning I had no chance to charge it at all but pleasingly it was already part charged; so with us it came- After a full afternoon of football, and much passing of it around to share the benefit, it was still toasting hot, so much so that we had to turn it down to a lower heat setting. Back in the car my niece dropped my credit card between the front seats and we used the torch for about five minutes to retrieve it. As an experiment I then used it to fully charge my iphone and that evening gave it my aunt wrapped in a sock (the warmer not my aunt!) to use on a stiff neck she has been complaining about- another hour later it was still going strong.Morale of the story - cheap options are out there to be found but sometime you really do get what you pay for, and occasionally a little more -simple as that. The only downside is my niece loves it and doesn't want to share any longer. So does my aunt - meaning I need to get another two !!!If you buy this and its like mine you wont be disappointed and if you impress your aunt the way I did she might even knit you a football pouch to keep it in just like mine :-) <see photo>

Better than anything similar.
The item was delivered swiftly and complete. The heat that it gives off is very good and comparable to a Whitby or peacock hand warmer, surprisingly, so too is the duration at seven hours and six and a half for low and high setting. The good rate of ampage also makes the unit suitable for its second function as a phone or appliance charger. The third function as a lamp works well, and I think would last many hours. The bulb is of the modern cree™ variety.Charging takes quite less than the eight hours stated, for example, if when the charge is down to one of the three bars, two or three hours would suffice. The battery is an lithium ion battery with high ampage and so needs to not be depleted fully before recharging, and it is best to follow the same advice regarding the devices temperature, e.g., keep the temperature constant in a cotton or woolen sleeve, and try not to have cold hands directly on the outer metal case soaking the warmth too often.I'm very happy with the hand warmer and as other reviewers have said, it appears to be the best electronic/electric one out at the moment.
