Well made. Work great for my sourdough bread. I use these several times a week and they still look brand new.

I recently returned to my roots making sourdough bread, and I'm a huge fan of Ken Forkish -- check out his award winning book, Flour, Water, Salt, Yeast. And I labored with improvised proofing baskets (floured tea towel in a kitchen bowl), and it worked ... well enough. But I realized that I was not getting the lift and structure I wanted in the loaves, and I kept seeing those concentric rings on better loaves ... and I decided to go for it, and purchased these bannetons. And they are great! I did prep 'em before I used em -- wash with water and baking soda -- never soap!, dry in the garage -- yes, they had a slight smell initially -- then following reasonable recommendations on the web by reputable providers, I wet the insides and dusted them heavily with flour, and let them dry. And then to make sure they were really ready, I also put them in a slow over for about 30 minutes, and stored 'em side by side on an open shelf in my pantry. And they work great! No need to use the cloth liners -- if clean and dry (dry in the sun or sitting on a window ledge), and moderately floured, they hold the dough, easy to see the dough rise, they promote great shape and structural integrity in the loaf, and leave those cool tell-tale "I'm serious about good bread" spirals on the top of the loaf. And yeah, I like the firm plastic dough knife too -- my metal one was hard on the counters.

Perfect for sourdough

Super excited about this purchase! But my package was sadly ALSO missing the blades :( after reading reviews it looks like this happens frequently- otherwise everything else looks great and I will be using this stuff tomorrow- yay!

This was a great starter pack for sourdough. I just got into sourdough this fall and this helped me get going.Both scrapers work well. The metal one was a little flimsy but I still use it often.The cutter works perfectly.The proofing baskets separate easily for cleaning and do a great job for proofing sourdough.

These proofing baskets are working as intended so far. The wood is smooth, the cotton liners are quality and they are easy to clean when needed. It’s been somewhat of a challenge to find good bannetons on Amazon but I think these are great, they did not have a chemical like odor like some other listings on here. I will say I had no need for another lame or dough scraper and donated those but if you’re just getting into sourdough baking they’re helpful items to have. And I honestly I’ve misplaced dough scrapers more than once so it helps to have a few laying around.
